Veterans For Peace Chapter 111

Veterans For Peace Chapter 111 Veterans for Peace Chapter 111 is based in Bellingham, Washington and invites you to join us as a veteran or an associate member.

Our Mission

We, having dutifully served our nation, do hereby affirm our greater responsibility to serve the cause of world peace. Our members know all too well the consequences of foreign policy based on waging war, because there were times in our lives so many of us carried it out. We also know that violence and retaliation do not work, that true security on the home front can only be attained

by expending national treasure, not on bombs and guns, but the health and welfare of all our citizens. To this end we will work to:

- Increase public awareness of the costs of war

- Restrain our government from intervening, overtly or covertly, in the internal affairs of other nations

- End the arms race and to reduce and eventually eliminate nuclear weapons

- Seek justice for veterans and victims of war

- Abolish war as an instrument of national policy. Our local chapter will continue to support or conduct educational and social justice forums, anti-war mobilizations and demonstrations, and ongoing memorial displays, such as Arlington Northwest, and to especially remember the growing human cost of war. To achieve these goals, members of Veterans For Peace pledge to use non-violent means and to maintain an organization that is both democratic and open with the understanding that all members are trusted to act in the best interests of the whole for the larger purpose of world peace.
