Good nutrition is essential for effective learning every day, all year long. Just as learning does not end when school lets out, neither does the need for good nutrition. Food assistance is available to kids while school is out through the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program, which includes Sun Meals and Sun Meals To-Go.

If your student is returning to Discovery next year, hang on to your laptop over the summer. If they're graduating or moving on to a different school, be sure to return all devices and materials to the school on June 23 or 24!

As we prepare for summer, our BSD Technology Services department is collecting district devices for annual maintenance and reimaging. Join the WSPTA Student Advisory Committee!

We are looking for students to help upraise student voice in WSPTA! We are looking for students from all areas of Washington that would like to help us form a WSPTA Student Advisory Committee!

What is the commitment?
The commitment would be one meeting a month via Microsoft Teams. The meeting would last about 1 to 2 hours. There may be other tasks that would take outside time and there may be opportunities for in-person events.

What will the committee do?
The committee will decide once it has formed, but here are some possibilities: advocate for certain legislative issues, plan student programs on issues that students think are important, plan student events and trainings and create peer to peer resources.

Who can join?
Any student in grades 6th thru 12th that attends a Washington state high school, secondary or middle school is welcome. Please note these requirements may change based on what the committee decides.

Why should you join?
You will gain leadership skills, communication skills, program planning skills and learn more about WSPTA and the role students can play. It can also count as volunteer hours and will look good on your resume. You will have a huge impact on what WSPTA offers students and on empowering student voice.

Wow! Look at our Walkathon participants go! Students have logged nearly 7,500 activity minutes and collected $1,870 for the PTSA this month! The fundraiser ends on Friday...let's keep up the amazing momentum!

We've got 10 days left in the Spring Walkathon and there's still time to join!

So far, students have logged 2,160 activity minutes and raised $1,005 for the Discovery PTSA. Each of them will earn a PTSA prize and those who raise at least $50 will be entered into a FundHub family raffle!
