Happy Web Designer Day. 🖥️

Today we're thinking about the people behind every website you trust, every app that actually makes sense, every digital experience that feels like someone thought about you when they built it.

Good design isn't decoration. It's communication. It's accessibility. It's the difference between a page that works for everyone and one that only works for some.

The designers and builders behind those experiences don't all come from the same background. Some started in completely different fields. Some never had the chance to study tech formally. Some just needed a door that was actually open.

At Americans 4 Equality, our App Building and Programming tracks are where a lot of those stories begin. Adults in Washington and Oregon — no degree required, no prior experience, no tuition — learning to build the digital tools that people actually use.

Last year, 423 students trained with us. 88% finished. Entry salaries for our graduates range from $50,000 to $95,000. Every learner paid $0.

If you've ever looked at a website or an app and thought ""I could build something like that"" — you might be right. And we can help you find out.

Domestic violence crosses every zip code — and so should access to trauma-informed care and safety.

We welcomed Amy FitzGerald and Judy Mirkin from LifeWire to Americans 4 Equality AI Lab. 🛡️

For over 40 years, LifeWire has been the lifeline for survivors of domestic violence across Washington State. When Amy and Judy spoke to our AI First Internship Program cohort, they shared something that shifted the room: the truth that shatters a dangerous myth. Domestic violence isn't a low-income problem. It's a human problem. It crosses every socioeconomic background, every neighborhood, every community.

They didn't just share insights — they shared their stories. Their survival.
Here's what matters: everyone at LifeWire is a survivor. That lived experience is their foundation for trauma-informed care. Amy and Judy shared wisdom and insights our interns will carry for a lifetime.

It manifests across every dimension: physical violence, cruel words, emotional manipulation, financial starvation. Abusers withhold passports, hide birth records, confiscate identity itself. Someone meant to love and protect them becomes the architect of their captivity. They know this intimately.

Here's the real barrier to safety: digital vulnerability. Abusers weaponize technology to hunt, track, locate. Every digital footprint becomes a weapon in their hands.

This is where applied AI changes everything. Protecting identities. Encrypting pathways. Technology that obscures, not exposes. Systems that shield survivors while they rebuild — unseen, untraced, protected.
When you pair frontline advocates with AI that prioritizes survivor safety and anonymity, you multiply protection.

The greatest algorithm was never written in code. It was lived by those who refused to break. Now the challenge is building technology worthy of that resilience. 💡

Deep gratitude to Amy and Judy for bringing your truth and wisdom to our interns and our mission. 🙏

The work continues. Together.

We had the privilege of sitting down with Seattle City Council President Joy Hollingsworth this week to share the work we've been building — and to talk about what comes next.

We walked through our impact within the city: hundreds of participants served through programs that remain 100% free and open to anyone ready to build a career — regardless of background, experience level, or education.
The conversation was a reminder of why community relationships matter. Real access requires real partnership. And Seattle has residents on our waitlist who are ready right now.

We're grateful for Council President Hollingsworth's time and her commitment to workforce equity in this city. We're excited about what this conversation could mean for expanding our reach and deepening our presence in Seattle.

More to come. 🤝

Learning something new can feel overwhelming, and that’s okay. Growth doesn’t happen overnight, and every step forward matters.

At A4E, we encourage learners to move at their own pace and stay consistent. Progress is still progress.

Something big is happening in the Greater Seattle area — and we got a front-row seat to the conversation.

We welcomed Timmy Cantrell of the Broderick Group for a visit that shed light on a trend reshaping our region: tech companies are leaving Silicon Valley and planting roots here in the Pacific Northwest. The commercial real estate market is reflecting that shift in real time, and the business growth that follows is creating a wave of opportunity for the communities we serve.

For an organization like Americans 4 Equality, that context matters. As companies expand their footprint in Greater Seattle, the demand for skilled, career-ready talent grows with them. We’re not just watching that growth from the sidelines — we’re building the workforce that powers it.

Thank you, Tim, for a timely and eye-opening conversation. The intersection of real estate, business growth, and workforce development is exactly where we want to be. 🙌
