Meet one of the wonderful people making a difference through Acquaint. 🌎🧡

Through Idealist Days, she found her way to Acquaint — and since then, she has brought curiosity, wisdom, and a genuine love for human connection into our community.

Nakkiyah is a passionate spiritual advisor and teacher who believes that meaningful lessons can be found in everyday experiences and the stories we love. She uses characters and storylines from movies and television to make spiritual teachings relatable, engaging, and thought-provoking.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, but a transformative life experiences a few years ago led her to discover her true purpose as a spiritual advisor. 🧡

She says: "Through Acquaint/Idealist, I have been blessed to build genuine human connections, share my knowledge, and learn from the perspectives and experiences of others. Today, I am grateful to pour my energy into work that brings me fulfilment—teaching, connecting, inspiring, and helping others see life from a deeper perspective.” ❤️

We’re so grateful that Idealist Days brought her to Acquaint, and that she chose to spend her time connecting, listening, learning, and sharing with people from around the world. 🌎🧡

Some people don’t just join a community. They help build it.

Today, we’re celebrating Diane — one of the people who has been part of Acquaint’s story since the very beginning. ❤️

Diane joined us in 2021, when our Global Conversations program was just getting started. Since then, she has had 400+ conversations with people from around the world; listening to stories, sharing perspectives, and showing up again and again for meaningful human connection.

But her contribution goes far beyond those 400+ conversations.
She has welcomed hundreds of new volunteers, shared thoughtful feedback that has helped us grow, encouraged our team when things felt uncertain, and consistently reminded us why this work matters.

And now, she’s helping bring Acquaint into her own community. 🥰

Last week, Diane picked up flyers for our weekly Acquaint Walk at Heritage Park and went door to door around Kirkland, asking local businesses if they would help spread the word.
Ten businesses said yes. 💯
Ten small acts of support for a growing community. 🌱

And that’s Diane: curious, generous, brave enough to knock on the next door, and always willing to help.
We’re incredibly grateful to have you with us, Diane. 🧡

A fascinating take on Acquaint was just published in the Journal of Transdisciplinary Peace Praxis, written by our team member Yehuda Silverman, PhD. 💡
“From Dialogue to Ripple Effects in Peace” is an honest, in-depth article on our Global Conversations program where Yehuda applies his own experiences and reflections to his research.

One of our favorite quotes: “Peace can begin in online dialogue spaces and radiate outward into social relationships, civic life, and physical communities through sustained practice.” 🧡

Throughout the article, Yehuda shares the impact of appreciation notes – messages of gratitude that volunteers optionally share with one another following their conversations. He describes how they can be powerful tools of reflection and learning about ourselves, our relationships, and the practice of human connection.

But the article doesn’t just describe the successful parts of Acquaint. It notes its limitations, too.

Yehuda concludes with recommendations for intentionally designing technology that promotes peace and connection rather than eroding it, such as integrating reflections into digital dialogue and promoting cross-sector collaboration.

Of course, this post barely scratches the surface of the wonderful insights in this article.
