When you adopt from us, you are making a lifelong commitment to protect that animal. Our adoption contract is not optional—it is a binding pledge to keep your cat safe, secure, and cared for for its entire natural life.
Let us be absolutely clear: allowing your cat outdoors is not “giving them freedom”—it is negligence. Cars, predators, disease, and countless other risks make it a matter of when, not if, tragedy occurs. There are no exceptions to this.
Today, we learned of yet another preventable loss. One of our babies—just one month past his first birthday—was killed after being let outside. This should never have happened. It is heartbreaking and unacceptable.
Because of this, we are implementing significantly stricter adoption guidelines—just as many responsible rescues already do for this exact reason. If that feels excessive, then this is not the right rescue for you. Our responsibility is to the animals, not to your convenience.
We invest immense time, resources, and care into every life we save. These cats rely entirely on humans for their safety. Failing to provide that is a failure of the commitment you agreed to.
If you intend to allow a cat to roam outdoors, do not apply. Our cats are not “street smart.” They are not equipped to navigate traffic, predators like coyotes and owls, or the many dangers outside. They depend on you to keep them alive.
Take that responsibility seriously—because the alternative is exactly what we are grieving today.
Rest easy Pixel. I’m sorry I failed you. 🌈
