The Mary Rutan Foundation is now accepting applications for its EMT (Basic) Scholarship Program for Logan County residents pursuing EMT certification.

Scholarships provide $1,000 in support:
* $500 upon enrollment in an approved EMT Basic program
* $500 after successful completion of the program

That's why your Bellefontaine paramedics are gearing up to help keep you cool at the fireworks event today.

Due to the extreme heat index, we will have a misting tent set up on the South side of the schools. We will be near the intersection of Lake St. and Michigan St. Feel free to come see us and take a quick break from the heat.

We encourage anyone experiencing the following symptoms to call 9-1-1:
Weakness
Dizziness
Headache
Nausea
Rapid Heart Rate
Altered Mental Status
Fainting
Muscle Cramps

Our first annual golf scramble is a wrap! Fortunately, the rain held off long enough for everyone to complete their rounds.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop late this afternoon and into tonight. Some severe storms will be possible. Damaging wind will be the main threat, although large hail and a few tornadoes will also be possible. The storms will also be capable of producing heavy downpours resulting in the potential for localized flash flooding.
