David A. Pals, 65, of Beecher City, passed away on May 9, 2026, at Willow Breeze Hospice House in Mattoon, Illinois.
David was born on Sept. 28, 1960, in Effingham, the son of Raymond and Betty (Coates) Pals. He grew up in the Effingham area and was a 1979 graduate of Effingham High School.
On Aug. 29, 1981, David was united in marriage to Delores Walk, and together they were blessed with 44 years of marriage. Their life together was built on love, devotion, and the many memories created through the years as they raised their family.
Surviving is his mother, Betty of Effingham; his wife, Delores; their children, Jessica (Mark) Prichard and Joshua (Elizabeth) Pals; four grandchildren, Sean (Haylie) Macklin, Rebecca Macklin, Casey Macklin, and Kelci Macklin, and one great-granddaughter, Emerson, all of Beecher City. Also surviving are his brothers, Ronald Pals of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Bryan (Wendy) Pals of Effingham; his sisters, Tamela Hankins and Cheryl Gephart, both of Effingham, and many in-laws, JoAnn (Dick) Sutton, Vera (Chuck) Runde, Bonnie (Dennis) Siebert, Bev (Dave) Awalt, Sue (Ronnie) White, Kevin (Amy) Walk, Art (Penny) Walk and Stan (Lisa) Walk. David also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory and the many ways he touched their lives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond; his brother, Larry; his sister, Cynthia; his in-laws, Charles and Agnes Walk, and his sisters-in-law, Marlene Burton and Doris Johnson.
David enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. Whether sharing stories, spending time with family, or enjoying the outdoors, David made lasting memories that will be treasured by all who knew him.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial gathering will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Beecher City Pit Stop. Memorial donations may be made to the family and can be sent to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565.
