Hi Friends, Here's some news about The LKW Fund's 2024 giving!

We are delighted to report that Laura’s Fund remains an active participant in the Burlington community. In addition to helping to subsidize art programs at King Street Center , Laura’s Fund provided scholarship funds for children to participate in summer camp programs run by Burlington City Arts, the Humane Society of Chittenden County , and Sara Holbrook Community Center ; and it pledged to make ongoing financial contributions to BCA's Art from the Heart pediatric program, for which Laura herself had been a volunteer.

In late fall, Laura’s Fund contributed to H.O.P.E. Works fundraising for clothing and school supplies for children and to COTS VT by helping provide winter boots to children.

To close out 2024, as it has done since its inception, Laura’s Fund participated in Steps to End Domestic Violence “Wish List” program for children and gave annual year-end donations to numerous organizations in line with its missions: to give children access to enrichment programs and to give financial assistance to programs supporting and empowering survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

Wishing you and your loved ones a safe and healthy holiday season!

Our Story

The Laura Kate Winterbottom Fund is a non-profit 501(c)3 foundation established in 2005 by the family and friends of Laura after her abduction, r**e, and murder on March 8, 2005. At the time of her passing, Laura was teaching art to children in an after-school program and making plans to become a full-time art teacher. Along with her passion for teaching art and doing art projects was her passion for exploring and enjoying Vermont's wondrous natural environment.

Our dual mission is to fund organizations and programs that help survivors of sexual assault and domestic abuse, including affected children, and enable them to get the services and assistance they need so that their suffering is alleviated and the cycle of violence is not perpetuated; and to provide scholarships and other resources to help disadvantaged children and/or children affected by sexual assault. Since 2005, The LKW Fund has donated over $180,000 to local organizations/programs throughout Vermont.
