Dear East & West Portland Teachers,

Our Districts will be combining on Wednesday May 24th at 10am for a masterclass with MTNA President Elect, Peter Mack, taking place at Portland Piano Company. This masterclass is designed specifically for students studying intermediate & late intermediate repertoire.

Requirements for Student Application:

Student must be available to perform on Wednesday, May 24th at 10am (during regular school hours)

Student must currently study with an East or West Portland OMTA member

Student's proposed repertoire selection should be between OMTA syllabus levels 4 through 7. (See syllabus repertoire list for recommendation)

Student should be between the ages of 7 and 18 years old.

Application Guidelines:

Teachers should send an email to [email protected] with the subject line "May Masterclass Application" and include the following:
Student's name, age, syllabus level (or approximation), and years of study

Title, Composer, and length in minutes of proposed masterclass selection

Link to a youtube video of the student performing a piece at approximately the same level. (Video can be of proposed masterclass selection or another piece representative of their current level.) The student should perform the full piece, no excerpts, and the video must be taken in the last 8 months.

Registration is now open for the West Portland District Competitive Baroque Festival.

Registration deadline is December 30th.

The event will be held January 28-29th, 2023 at Portland Piano Company.

A tribute to Tomáš Svoboda

The All Classical Portland team is saddened to learn of the passing of local and world-renowned Czech-American composer Tomáš Svoboda. Our hearts, thoughts, and more go out to his family, friends, and all the musicians who have performed his music.

On Saturday, December 3, 2022, All Classical Portland Host John Pitman will honor Tomáš on The Concert Hall. Join us at 7:00 PM PT for a retrospective program celebrating the composer’s creative contributions to Oregon and the world of music. Hear his Overture of the Season, choral works performed by the PSU Chamber Choir, and more. Listen at 89.9 FM in Portland or worldwide at allclassical.org.
