Blue's Mews Siamese Cat Rescue Blue's Mews is a small, volunteer-run cat rescue dedicated to assisting cats & kittens at risk. Why adopt from us? When you adopt from us, our care doesn't stop.
(1)

Because we are serious about each and every kitten. All of our adoptable kittens have had (at least) their first FVRCP; most have had two FVRCPs and their first FeLV. We ensure our kittens get their complete shot series, even after you adopt them. We follow through with spaying and neutering, and cover microchipping as well! Kittens come with a 2-week health guarantee. If they need vet work, we ge

t it for them. When you adopt from us, you are not adopting "trouble." Blue's Mews kittens are highly socialized, and fully vetted. We keep our numbers under control so we can give our kittens the best of food, the best of vet care, and the best of attention. Email [email protected] or check out our PetFinder listings for latest availability.

*** Donations and a name needed ***

This cat is AMAZING! She needs a name, starting with “K", one as incredible as she is! Not only was she surviving outside as a blind cat, she was also raising kittens!

Let's call her Mama K while we tell you what we have found out about this incredible kitty.

Mama K was born outside last year on Funston Ave in New Carlisle. When she was a young kitten, she had eye infections. She disappeared for a while, and when she reappeared, she was blind. Usually, kittens do not live long outdoors, as they die from one of the many outdoor hazards. But she survived despite her blindness!

Mama K must have an incredible memory! She learned how to use her other senses to find her way around the neighborhood, even crossing the street to visit the different houses that fed her, before returning to the hiding places she considered “safe”. Not being able to see, she became very skittish about any movement she sensed, and could not easily be touched. What a challenging life she was living!

Being an unspayed female, of course she became pregnant, and gave birth to six kittens. Unfortunately, before help could be arranged, Mama K moved them to a more secluded location, and when she reappeared with her babies about 3 weeks later, she only had two surviving kittens.

When Mama K reappeared with the kittens, she brought them to a shady porch she deemed safe enough for her precious kittens. The man who owned the porch had seen her roaming the neighborhood for months and knew she was blind, but he'd had no idea she was a mother! Thankfully, he reached out on social media for help with the situation.

How dedicated and clever Mama K is, to raise her babies alone in the dark? Amazing!

We would like to get Mama K's assessed by an ophthalmologist to see if she retains any function in her eyes, as even having light/dark sensitivity can be helpful. However, we expect to be told that her quality of life would be improved by enucleation to eliminate the recurring infections.

We also would like to find Mama K a foster-to-adopt home, as we feel that a calm home will speed her transition to happily-ever-after. Apply at https://bluesmews.org/adoption-application .

Donations towards Mama K's medical care can also be made at https://bluesmews.org/donate or mailed to BMSCR, PO BOX 124, ALPHA OH 45301.

Thank you for your donations, prayers, shares!

And don't forget, she needs a name starting with K!

How have we not seen any applications for either of these girls? Rescued from a hoard house this suspected mother and daughter pair are blossoming in their new indoor life.

Yara is a snuggly couch potato, she prefers to curl up touching her person than chase a toy. With this golden eyed beauty you can't go wrong. (Corrected her eye color from one green and one gold to both golden.)

Yuki is an adventurous soul with blue eyes and extra thumbs. She is deaf (the vacuum is an interesting new item in her world!) and can be nervous until she learns about her new home but loves to play and follow her people.

If you are interested in adopting one or both of these beautiful ladies please put in an application at bluesmews.org or learn more at their Petfinder profiles. Their requested minimum adoption donation is $300 each, and we will cover their remaining vaccines and microchip. They have been spayed, combo tested (Negative for FIV and FeLV), dewormed, flea treated and received their first round of the FeLV and FVRCP vaccines as well as the rabies vaccine. We also offer a two week good health guarantee and a three week getting to know you time period.

*** Donations needed for burn-victim Zuko. He needs surgery. ***

Sometimes, the Facebook algorithms are very puzzling. We KNOW FOR SURE that if Silver Linings of Ohio fundraising post had reached the generous, compassionate people who have follow us for many years, that the donations would have been through the roof. So we are making a separate fundraiser to maybe nudge the algorithms and reach the right people.

See the comments for a link to a Zuko update video.

On behalf of Silver Linings, thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and donations. We can't save cats without your help!

Postpartum difficulties in cats are more common than many people realize.

Tuesday evening, barn cat Mama was tending to her babies in her barn home. Wednesday evening, she was found deceased with her kittens crying in hunger. We don't know what the cause of death was, but given the timing, retained placentas or kittens or a uterine infection are not unlikely.

Fortunately, Mama Nala, who had an emergency spay on Tuesday, was doing quite well, but was missing her own baby. (Her surviving kitten was doing poorly and deemed too weak to go back to her immediately.) Mama Nala was thrilled to have kittens to care for and immediately began mothering them. We monitored the kittens' weights, and her milk supply quickly increased to satisfy their needs.

Also, we were able to reunite Nala with her own surviving baby Friday evening! Little Enzo is so happy to have a real Mama and siblings to cuddle with!

Thank you again to everyone who contributed to Nala's surgery and other recent emergencies!

Update 2: We have named her "Daffodil" at the request of the person who reached out for help for her!

Poor Daffodil is in poor shape. She is emaciated and her wounds are infected. While we suspect she was an indoor kitten at one point, she has not been properly cared for in a while. But we are hopeful she will pull through.

Daffodil's tail has been removed. Because a wide area of skin was gone around the tail, she needed to have her entire tail removed instead of leaving a short stump. This increases the risk of nerve damage and incontinence. However, Dr Fent is experienced with this surgery and we remain hopeful she will not experience these potential problems.

We wish we could say she is resting comfortably, but the truth is, such injuries are very painful. She is resting as comfortably as we can make her. She has pain meds.

Helping Daffodil is a collaborative event. People from TipKitty TNR , Our Farm Sanctuary , Blue's Mews Siamese Cat Rescue , and unaffiliated individuals worked together to figure out trapping, transportation, and post-surgical care. None of this would have been possible without conmunity member Anna reaching out for help.

A big "thank you!" To Dr. Fent and Webark Estates for squeezing her into an already packed surgical day!

Thank you everyone for your prayers and donations!

UPDATE: She is a girl!

*** DONATIONS NEEDED FOR EMERGENCY CARE ***

This older kitten was spotted with a degloved tail yesterday and successfully caught this afternoon. Degloving injuries are extremely painful and with the tail being part of a cats spine the severity of any infection can quickly escalate.

Luckily for this baby we have a plan!
Step 1: Aquire cat. ☑️
Step 2: Drive! - this kitty is currently on the road to visit Dr. Fent
Step 3: Name the kitten
Step 4: Assessment and Surgery 😷
Step 5: Rest and recovery 💤😺
Step 6: Pay the Doctor…….

We need help with steps 3 and 6. We don't know what the bill will be until the kitten has been assessed by Dr. Fent but we can expect it will cost over $200 for treatment today, a bill we will need help to pay.

In addition to the button below, donations can be made at https://bluesmews.org/donate or mailed to BMSCR, PO BOX 124, ALPHA OH 45301.

For step 3 we need a name that starts with the letter D that is androgynous since we don't know this baby's gender yet.

Thank you for taking the time to help us continue to support the cats of our community when they need help.
