Our motto, "Giant Oaks from Tiny Acorns Grow," encourages us to reflect on where we started, celebrate our accomplishments, and look forward with renewed energy to a bright future.

As community foundations in Pennsylvania go, we are medium sized and growing. However, when it comes to giving back: We give like we are huge.

It is because of the generosity of our many donors, how much we care about our community, and our willingness to share and give back to the place where we live that the Beaver County Foundation has taken root and continues to grow. The beauty of a community foundation is everyone has the opportunity to give... whether the gift is $5 or $500,000… all gifts are welcome. Donors may establish a fund or support an existing fund.

The Foundation is in its 33rd year, comprised of 84 funds with combined assets of over $15.4 million. As of the beginning of November 2025, the funds of the Beaver County Foundation have awarded over $761,000 to the community in grants, scholarships, and project funding this year. We have a long life ahead of us, a great future and lofty goals to meet to enable us to expand the support for Beaver County.

Our founding board set a goal in 1992. Our goal remains constant.

The goal is to return $1 million in grants and scholarships every single year to our community. Just like the "little engine that could," we are moving toward our goal. Is our goal lofty? Perhaps. Is it impossible? Absolutely not. We ask for your help. Please remember the Beaver County Foundation as you seek to conveniently fulfill your individual, family, business, or nonprofit group’s charitable interests. We would enjoy working with you to make a permanent and lasting gift to Beaver County, fulfilling the community’s need and leaving a legacy for the generations who follow us.

Our mission is simple: To make Beaver County a better place to live, play, work and worship for the generations who follow.

"Community foundations build and strengthen communities by making it possible for a wide range of donors to create permanent funds to meet critical needs. They are an especially appealing option because donors are relieved from being engaged in the day-to-day management of investments while being insured their philanthropic needs are met both today and in the future. Community foundations, through philanthropy that is visionary, diverse and inclusive, have become catalysts for improvement in the communities they serve."

Please join us in congratulating the family of the late Reno "Vincent" Dioguardi for his posthumous Ben Franklin Award at the 2025 banquet of the Beaver County Foundation. The award honors local individuals, businesses and organizations which best capture the founding father’s pioneering and entrepreneurial spirit of business initiative and willingness to carve new paths.

Pictured, L-R: Foundation board director Edward DeMailo, who presented the award to Vince's son-in-law Fran Mantine and son John A. Dioguardi.

The family in turn bestowed the $500 award to the Beaver Cemetery.

Vince was born in 1928 in Newark, NJ where he must have decided that his time to be an American might as well start right there in New Jersey. His parents, Michael and Anna Dioguardi, had just entered America through Ellis Island, one of America’s most active immigration stations. Their plan was, once through immigration, to begin the drive to Pennsylvania with their four boys – Henry, Carlo, Guido and Anthony, who were all born in Italy. Vince decided to be part of this journey so he kicked his way out of his mother’s womb in Newark. From that day forward, his parents came to know that this child was different in a good way.

Vince graduated from Rochester High School and joined the Navy, serving in World War II. Upon his arrival home, he pursued his education at the Garfield Business Institute in Beaver Falls, PA. His time at Garfield was cut short due to the health of his father. Vince knew that there was a great deal his father needed to share and teach this youngest son in the family business, Rome Monument. God blessed Vince and his father with enough time that not only Rome Monument grew but also a new company was started, Rome Metals, before his father passed away in 1958.

Rome Monument grew from 1958 through the 1990s. However, Rome Metals grew at an unbelievable rate, with additional facilities in Rochester and Zelienople. At one time in the late 1990s over 200 people were employed by Rome Metals. In 1997, Vince negotiated the sale of Rome Metals to Oregon Metallurgical Corporation in Albany, OR but there was no end to Vince’s desire to continue to build. From a Halfway House in the back of Darlington to St. Cecelia Roman Catholic Church in Rochester, and to industrial metal facilities in Monaca where ATI, Met Con and ROMEMET employ over 100 people, Vince was the driver of each.

Sadly, Vince died on Feb. 3, 2025 at the age of 97 with his wife Antoinette at his side. She joined him in Heaven two weeks later on Feb. 17, 2025. Their loss to us was God’s gain of two loving souls.

Please join us in congratulating The Wright Promise for receiving the annual Ben Franklin Award at the 2025 banquet of the Beaver County Foundation. The award honors local businesses and organizations which best capture the founding father’s pioneering and entrepreneurial spirit of business initiative and willingness to carve new paths.

Pictured, L-R: Foundation board director Mark Miner and the Wright Promise's Castine Allmond, Stefanie and Bryan Wright, Dr. Carol Sprinker and Nicol Summers.

The Wright Promise in turn bestowed its $500 award to a well-deserving organization, PUSH Beaver County.

Founded in 2024 by Bryan and Stefanie Wright, The Wright Promise (TWP) is a family-founded, grant-making foundation dedicated to energizing, revitalizing, and enriching communities through social, educational, and religious initiatives. Guided by deeply held family values, TWP invests the collective time, talents, and financial resources of its founders and board to create lasting, positive change -- helping organizations reach their full potential.

TWP’s giving is organized around five Core Promise Areas: Faith, Family, Service, Education, and Leadership. Across these pillars, the foundation supports efforts that strengthen families, expand learning opportunities, cultivate servant leadership, and uplift community wellbeing. Whether advancing innovative programs in schools, backing local service organizations, or investing in faith-rooted outreach, TWP’s focus remains constant: to lead with generosity, respond with purpose, and measure impact by lives changed.

Rooted in the conviction of Luke 12:48 -- “Everyone to whom much is given, of him much will be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask the more” -- TWP embraces its responsibility to serve faithfully and give abundantly.

Anchored by Arthur Ashe’s wisdom, “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can,” the foundation’s mission reflects both gratitude and purpose: to meet needs with humility, empower capable partners, and build momentum for the common good—one promise at a time.

The Beaver County Foundation will conclude the 2025 calendar year with a record-setting $15.4 million in invested assets, up from $12.8 million a year ago, and five new charitable funds under management, bringing the total number in its portfolio to 84 funds.

The largest of the new funds is the Reno Vincent Dioguardi Fund, valued at $2 million. It was established through a life insurance policy created by the late entrepreneur and owner of Rome Monument Company and Rome Metals of Rochester who died on Feb. 3, 2025.

The four other new funds this year are the Maria Perri Cimarusti Memorial Scholarship, Vanessa D. Ford Fund, Arnold-Mitchell Scholarship Fund, and the Center Civic Women’s Club Cancer Fund.

“The Foundation is stronger and doing more than ever to make Beaver County a great place to live, work and play,” said Foundation Executive Director Theresa Stamos Laderer. “It’s so meaningful when local families choose to enhance our county by creating their own managed charitable fund or contribute to one of our existing general purpose, scholarship, field of interest, donor advised and organizational endowment funds.”

The Cimarusti scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who plans to continue his or her education at a post-secondary college, university, community college, trade school, or vocational / technical institute. It’s named in memory of 1977 Ambridge High School graduate and co-valedictorian who received degrees from Penn State University and Rutgers University and went on to a 23-year career in the pharmaceutical industry before suffering a catastrophic brain hemorrhage and 10 years of complete debility until her death in December 2023.

The Vanessa D. Ford Fund will provide programs for families who have been victims of domestic violence.

The Arnold-Mitchell scholarship supports graduates of Beaver Falls High School and New Brighton High School. It honors the lives and legacies of Ralph J. and Carmella T. (Andino) Mitchell, longtime owners of K&M Auto Electric in Beaver Falls, and Dr. W. Paul and Louise M. (Roth) Arnold, Presbyterian missionaries and founders of the School of Computer Science at Geneva College. Both of these couples exemplified a lifelong commitment to education, a steadfast work ethic and a deep belief in service.

The Center Civic Women’s Club Cancer Fund provides wigs and other services to women diagnosed with cancer.

The Foundation recently bestowed 2025 Benjamin Franklin Awards to three local entrepreneurs and organizations for best capturing the founding father’s pioneering and entrepreneurial spirit of business initiative and willingness to carve new paths. They include the late Mr. Dioguardi, attorney Michael J. Nalli of Center Township/Aliquippa and The Wright Promise of Beaver.

During the year, the Foundation also awarded a record 56 scholarships worth $86,750 to an all-time high number of applicants. The winners included 43 high school graduates from 11 local communities who are furthering their post-secondary education this fall in college/university and vocational school environments.
