🏒 Behind the Boards | Natosha Kopmeyer

A hockey jersey is more than just fabric.

It’s the number kids become known by. The jersey parents search for on the ice. The one they wear proudly walking into the rink every weekend. For many players, it becomes part of their hockey identity.

One of the ways Beaver Dam Hockey helps keep the sport affordable is by reusing jerseys each season instead of requiring families to purchase new ones every year. That takes a lot of organization behind the scenes and Natosha Kopmeyer is the one making it all happen.

From sorting and handing out jerseys to tracking numbers and collecting them at the end of the season, Natosha works hard to make sure every player has the jersey they’ll proudly wear all season long.

Thank you Natosha for all the time and organization you put into one of the most recognizable parts of Beaver Dam Hockey! 🏒

Something SCARY BIG is coming to Beaver Dam this fall. 🎃🏒

We’re excited to host the first-ever Beaver Dam 3-on-3 Spooktacular Hockey Tournament right here at our home rink! This fun, fast-paced weekend is open to co-ed and girls teams across multiple age divisions and is the perfect way to kick off hockey season.

✅ October 16-18, 2026
✅ Four games guaranteed
✅ Co-ed + girls divisions
✅ Teams of 4 (goalies will register separately)
✅ Hosted at the Beaver Dam Family Center

🏒 Behind the Boards | Shelly Strachota

Hockey games don’t happen without referees.

Refs are an important part of the game and behind every weekend of hockey, Shelly Strachota makes sure officials are scheduled and ready to hit the ice.

As our Referee Coordinator, Shelly recruits officials, coordinates scheduling and helps ensure training requirements are completed so games can run smoothly throughout the season.

It’s a role that requires organization, communication and a whole lot of behind-the-scenes work, especially during busy tournament weekends.

Every player deserves to feel safe, supported and welcomed at the rink.

As Beaver Dam Hockey’s SafeSport Coordinator, Kelly Guenther helps ensure our program remains a positive environment for all athletes and families. While much of this role happens quietly behind the scenes, it is incredibly important to everything we do as an organization.

Kelly helps oversee policies, training and procedures designed to protect players and create a culture built on respect, accountability and professionalism.

Hockey is about so much more than what happens on the ice and people like Kelly help make sure our kids can grow, learn and love the game in a safe environment.

🏒 Behind the Boards | Casey Schaalma
2,732 hours of ice. 1,405 scheduled slots. Multiple programs sharing one rink. One scheduler making sure everyone gets their time on the ice.

That person is Casey Schaalma. As our Master Scheduler Casey manages ice time for everyone who calls Beaver Dam Family Center home. Youth hockey, high school hockey, figure skating, open skate and more. She balances every request while working to make ice time accessible and equitable for all.

This role is bigger than just hockey and the scope of it is staggering. It takes extraordinary organization, patience and dedication and Casey brings all of that every single day.

Thank you Casey for keeping everything running and making sure everyone gets their time on the ice! 🏒

Our ice comes out next week and there's a lot to be done around the rink. Get a head start on next season's work credits and help out with painting, cleaning and general maintenance.
