409 Cares

409 Cares A group of friends resolved to transform heartbreak into something meaningful.

Mark 12:31 calls us to “Love thy neighbor as yourself, for there is no greater commandment than these.” Guided by this belief, we are stepping forward to do more - 409 Cares.

409 Cares has proudly made a donation to the Ingram Volunteer Fire Department on behalf of the SETX Community in appreciation of their rescue, relief and recovery efforts. In a time where we were limited in what we could do for our SETX families who were experiencing tragedy in the hill country, you all stood in the gap for us and offered assistance.

I saw this photo somewhere else, but it carries so much weight that I have to share with y’all. Words are failing me today, and this world is far from the world I thought I would be raising my children. 💔

Never underestimate the difference that one day can make. One ordinary morning can change the course of history. Just as we learned yesterday, one day can bring unthinkable tragedy.

Yet one day can also bring unbelievable strength, unity, and resilience. Lord, hear our prayers.

Today we remember the lives lost, the heroes who ran toward danger, and the families who still carry the weight of that day. We honor them by never forgetting — and by choosing to live each day with gratitude, courage, and love.

The thought has crossed our minds more than once about how you try and explain the loss of a dear friend to a child. Losing a friend you love is something that stays with you, even as a kid. Likewise, trying to help a child process a loss that you are trying to process yourself presents a challenge unlike any other.

With those thoughts in mind, we decided as a group to make a donation to Catholic Charities Elijah's Place. Elijah's Place provides ongoing grief support to children ages 5 – 18. The program also offers childhood bereavement education for adults working in schools, churches, and community organizations.

Our hope and prayer is that with this donation, we can do a little something for those sweet friends, teachers and support staff that are needing a bit of help processing so much pain and hurt during this tragedy. We are hearing stories about friends of victims needing love & support, as well as current and former teachers seeking direction on how to help grieving children as they are also processing these losses themselves.

Our prayers and love are with you all!

409 Cares has proudly made a donation to the Hunt Volunteer Fire Department, as a token of appreciation for their response, rescue & recovery efforts during the tragic flooding in the Texas Hill Country.

Hunt VFD, along with most other recipients of our donations have come to our attention through the recommendation of families and friends of our precious local victims who tragically lost their lives during this catastrophic event. We are beyond thankful for their efforts, love and sacrifices. May God Bless them all.

‼️UPDATE ‼️
We have started the process of making donations. We have put so much thought, effort and energy into making sure we are doing the most with our efforts...the efforts of our community.

We are proud to share that one of the first recipients of a 409 Cares Donation is Texas EquuSearch! Texas EquuSearch is a non-profit organization founded in 2000 by Tim Miller, dedicated to helping locate missing persons. Driven by personal loss, Mr. Miller created the organization to support families facing the anguish of a loved one’s disappearance.

The team consists of trained volunteers who use various search techniques, such as ground and aerial searches, along with advanced technology like drones and sonar. While based in Texas, they collaborate with law enforcement agencies nationwide to assist families in need. Donnie and several other local volunteers have been working with Texas EquuSearch since the tragic flooding in July. This organization is truly remarkable and was responsible for helping a great many families during this tragedy. We are beyond grateful for the role they have played in the search & recovery efforts in the Texas Hill County and beyond.
