🌴 A Jimmy Buffett Day Message from Capt.Doobie of UTCPHC 🌴
As we celebrate Jimmy Buffett Day, let’s take a moment to thank everyone who makes it possible for us to keep this party going—with a purpose.
We are almost one year into the journey of our new board and committee, and first, I want to thank every UTCPHC member who has worked, volunteered, donated and supported this club. Without each of you, none of this would be possible.
I also want to thank the incredible establishments that welcome us and give us a place to hold our monthly Happy Hours: Neches River Wheelhouse, Pine Tree Lodge and Stingaree. Without y’all, there wouldn’t be a Happy Hour!
And what’s a Happy Hour without live music? Our musicians are the real MVPs. Without them, we’d just be sitting around listening to the radio! Thank you to every talented artist who has shared their music with us, and thank you to the Trop Rock Music Association for supporting the music and community we all love.
Over the past year, our club has raised an incredible amount of money through Happy Hours, raffles, house concerts and other events. Together, we have donated thousands of dollars to local charities, scholarships and the Lone Palm Foundation. One of my proudest moments was UTCPHC becoming a Gold Sponsor of the new Jimmy Buffett Experience at the National Maritime Museum in Mobile, Alabama, opening September 12!
Kristen and I would also like to personally thank everyone who has sponsored, supported and attended our house concerts at the Parrotdise. Opening our home to strangers who share the same love for music and independent artists may have started as someone’s crazy idea—but those strangers quickly became lifelong friends. It has been one hell of a ride, and we are incredibly grateful for every memory made along the way.
So today, Parrot Heads, pat yourselves on the back. None of this happens without you!
So raise a cold LandShark or your favorite frozen concoction and toast the man whose music, stories and spirit brought this entire family together.
Bubbles Up and Fins Up, y’all! 🫧🦈🍹
