The 409 Project; Helping the Homeless is a Non-Profit Organization that helps with the needs of the homeless in Southeast Texas, by providing them with food, clothing, and other resources. We are also their VOICE, we fight for their rights, we tell their stories, and raise awareness about our Community, and surrounding community's, and our Country's homeless, and poverty problems. No one should ev

er go to bed hungry or have to sleep on the street. Jefferson and Orange County have a combined population of 335,315 (2013) people. Out of that population HUD only list 1,040 as being homeless, but that number is much higher. SETX needs more Shelters, we need a ID system put into place for the Homeless, we need more Advocates to get involved and fight for the rights of our Homeless, we need to help them get back into society, and off the streets. We need to educate our Homeless on their rights for certain benefits, that they are allowed to receive, such as SNAP food benefits, housing vouchers and etc. For more information on how you can get involved or to make a donation, or in need of food, clothing or any type of information such as food banks, shelters, Women and Children s services, email [email protected] or call Sheri Walker @ 409-882-8674
