Family Reunification Month means something different when you've lived it.
I still remember the pain, the fear, the uncertainty, and wondering if things would ever be okay again. I remember what it felt like to miss my child and to know that no amount of love could fix what needed to be changed. The work had to be done.
That experience is why I believe so deeply that reunification is possible.
Not because it's easy. Not because every day feels hopeful. But because I've seen what can happen when parents are given support, accountability, resources, and the opportunity to heal.
Today, I have the privilege of watching other families walk a path that once felt impossible. I see parents doing the hard work of recovery. I see children reconnecting with their families. I see cycles being broken and futures being changed.
Family reunification is not just about bringing families back together. It's about creating safe, stable, and loving homes where children and parents can heal together.
This month, we celebrate every family still fighting for that opportunity. Keep going. The journey is hard, but healing is possible.
