☀️ School is out, and summer is officially here.
As parents, I get it.
Sometimes it’s easier to let our kids disappear into their phones, tablets, gaming systems, or social media. We’re busy. We’re tired. Life is chaotic.
But summer is also when many kids become more vulnerable online.
The internet gives strangers access to our children in ways previous generations never had to worry about. Relationships can form quickly. Secrets can be encouraged. Risks can grow before parents even realize what’s happening.
This summer, let’s challenge ourselves to be more present.
Know who your kids are talking to.
Check their apps.
Set boundaries.
Have the hard conversations.
Encourage them to get outside, ride bikes, swim, explore, volunteer, read, create, and spend time with real people in the real world.
The best memories of childhood aren’t usually made staring at a screen.
They’re made getting dirty, laughing with friends, chasing fireflies, staying out too late, and living life.
Our children don’t just need more rules.
They need more connection.
This summer, let’s put down our phones a little more, look up a little more, and be intentional with the time we have.
Because the days are long, but the years are short. 💚
