❄️ Weather Update from CCPS ❄️
CCPS continues to work with the National Weather Service and Carteret County Emergency Services to monitor frigid temperatures and travel conditions following heavy snow accumulation this past weekend.

Due to ongoing conditions, Carteret County Public Schools will be operating under the following conditions ⬇️

📌 Tuesday, February 3rd and Wednesday, February 4th, 2026
• Will be remote learning days for students 📚
• Will be remote workdays for all staff 💻

🚫 Activities & Facilities
• All extracurricular and athletic activities remain cancelled until further notice 🏀
• All schools and CCPS buildings remain closed until conditions improve 🏫

❄️ Weather Update from CCPS ❄️

CCPS continues to work with the National Weather Service and Carteret County Emergency Services to monitor severe weather conditions that affect our community.

Due to current, multiple weather forecasting models predicting heavy snow accumulation as well as frigid temperatures throughout the weekend and early next week, Carteret County Public Schools will be operating under the following conditions ⬇️

📌 Beginning Saturday, January 31, 2026
• All extracurricular and athletic activities are cancelled for the weekend and until further notice 🏀🚫

📌 Monday, February 2, 2026
• Will be a snow day (no school) for students ❄️
• Will be an optional workday for staff
• All schools and CCPS buildings will be closed 🏫

📌 February 16, 2026
• Was originally a teacher workday
• Will now be a regular school day, and students will report to school 📚

🌨️ Looking Ahead
If severe weather continues to affect our area after Monday, February 2nd, schools will most likely be operating under remote learning for students. If this is the case, please be prepared. School staff and teachers have communicated protocols for remote learning to your students, in case it becomes necessary.

📣 More information will be communicated on Monday to students, staff, and parents, as we continue to monitor the progression of weather conditions.

Big news for Carteret County! This week, we celebrate our educators who have earned their National Board Certification. This achievement brings a well-deserved 12% state pay increase and elevates teaching and learning in every classroom they touch.

Last year, the Carteret Education Foundation invested 62 professional development grants - more than $106,000 - into supporting teachers on this journey, thanks in part to our partners at the Big Rock Foundation. Because when teachers grow, kids win.

And to those still in the process, we see you, we’re walking with you, and we cannot wait to celebrate YOU next year. Keep going. Carteret Education Foundation is behind you all the way!

The Big Rock Foundation gave $2 MILLION this year - and over $650,000 of that went straight into Carteret County Public Schools.
