October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and our library is proud to help share information and resources from the Crisis Center Foundation.

This display is a reminder that support is available, that everyone deserves to feel safe, and that no one has to face abuse alone.

We encourage you to stop by, explore the materials, and take information for yourself or someone who may need it. You never know when a resource could make a difference.

💜 You are not alone.

BANNED BOOKS WEEK: BOOK SPOTLIGHT

Today's featured title is The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger.

First published in 1951, this American classic follows teenager Holden Caulfield as he navigates adolescence, identity and his frustrations with the adult world.

Despite becoming one of the most recognizable novels in American literature, The Catcher in the Rye has faced challenges for decades.

A classic doesn't have to be free from controversy to have a place on the shelf.
Libraries offer readers the opportunity to explore different stories, perspectives and ideas.

She claims to know things that certain people would prefer remain buried.

And she’s decided it’s time for those secrets to come to light.

BANNED BOOKS WEEK: BOOK SPOTLIGHT

Today's featured title is The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.

Published in 1999, this coming-of-age novel follows Charlie as he navigates friendship, high school, and the challenges of growing up.

The book has faced challenges in schools and libraries due to concerns about sexual content, language, drug and alcohol references and mature themes.

Why highlight challenged books?

Because reading is personal. Not every book will be right for every reader, and that's okay!

Banned Books Week reminds us that individuals and families should have the opportunity to make their own reading choices.

Have you read The Perks of Being a Wallflower?
