Homeowners,
Here are few updates on the Howell School Road project and our new entrance.
• Entrance Lighting - This week, contractors are expected to perform work at our community entrance to run electrical necessary to provide and install lighting at both entrances signs. Work will be performed primarily on the west side of Meadow Glen drive from the entrance sign and along the easement in front of 302 Meadow Glen. Please observe caution while this work is going on as you leave and enter the community.
• Howell School Road - It is expected that on or about October 12, the stretch of Howell School Road which has been closed for a few months east of Lums Pond State Park is expected to open. However, at the same time they will also close the road east of Caravel Woods. The road will be closed in order for the construction of the roundabout at the Caravel Woods entrance. Caravel Woods and Mansion Farms entrance will become a Left In, Right Out until the roundabout is completed which is expected by mid-December barring delays. At that time Howell School Road will reopen fully again.
• Old Entrance area - On or about the weekend of October 14-15, DelDot is expected to be on site to tear out the asphalt at the end of Sweethollow Drive near our old entrance. We do not have any additional details on the status of when the cul-de-sac that will be created there. We will provide an update when known. The old entrance sign should also be taken out shortly.
• 896 and Howell School Road intersection – When the new intersection opened in July, many drivers were confused by certain signs and turn markings at the Left turn onto Howell School Road from southbound 896. For example, drivers were making U-turns onto 896 North from the right lane!! Hence, DelDot has closed the left lane temporarily until they could assess the situation. Before the end of October, we should see new directional signs installed, redirection of the Do Not Enter signs which added to the confusion and both left turn lanes reopengin. We are also expecting the timing of the traffic lights in all directions to be improved and adjusted much sooner.
• Completion of Project – With the December timing of the completion of the last major phase of the project, which is the roundabout at Caravel Woods, DelDot expects that final paving of the whole project will likely take place in the Spring of 2018.
If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
