Founded by local artist and figure model Steph Woman, Beacon Drink and Draw is a monthly evening event where artists of all skill levels and all ages (21+) may come and draw from a live model while enjoying drinks and a rotating soundtrack of lovingly curated music. Participants must bring their own drawing materials, including pens, paper, paints, brushes, and whatever preferred media they choose
, and are responsible for cleaning up after themselves. Admission is $15, due in advance, nonrefundable. About the founder:
Steph Woman is a drawer, painter, music photographer and local studio manager educated in art and design. She has worked as a figure model for the Fashion Institute of Technology and Drink n Draw at the Bathaus in Brooklyn, and supervised figure drawing sessions for Parsons the New School for Design. She is thrilled to bring this freeing and extremely informative exercise to the amateur, intermediate, and advanced artists of Beacon. Sessions are 3 hours long, with a 15-minute break in the middle, and poses vary and increase in duration from 1 minute to 20 minutes. Models are people of all genders and body types, mostly n**e, but sometimes in costume, and can be anyone from dancers and yogis to average, non-athletic people. Use of cell phones or cameras in ANY CAPACITY inside the session space during sessions is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Session monitor reserves the right to enforce this rule and eject any participants who do not comply, and no refunds on admission will be given. Models' safety and comfort is the #1 priority of the sessions, and any activity that threatens the code of respect is grounds for dismissal and potentially permanent non-admittance to Beacon Drink and Draw.
