It was a great day at Baytown’s Spring Market on Town Square! Retired K9 Big joined us and quickly stole the hearts of so many from the very community he faithfully protected for years. We are incredibly grateful for all the support and love shown throughout the day for Baytown’s retired K9 officers!

We will have shirts, cups, and other merchandise available for purchase, and 100% of proceeds and donations will go directly toward the medical care of retired Baytown Police K9 officers. We hope to see you there!

Enjoy live music throughout the market, grab a bite from food trucks or nearby Texas Avenue restaurants, and let the kids enjoy a free activity hosted by Baytown Parks and Recreation. We are deeply honored to sponsor the medical care of recently retired K9 Hero of the Baytown Police Department, a true protector, partner, and hero in every sense of the word.

Born in Hungary, K9 Hero spent 9 years in service protecting the Baytown community.
He ran toward danger without hesitation, standing beside his handler, Officer Calvert, through some of the most high-risk and uncertain moments. Because of Hero, countless situations ended safely.

Over more than 700 deployments, K9 Hero tracked suspects, located critical evidence, and helped remove dangerous individuals and weapons from the streets. Together, Hero and Officer Calvert were responsible for the arrest of 230 suspects and the apprehension of 50 individuals, each one a testament to Hero’s bravery and relentless drive to serve.

Together, they earned 20 awards, including Top Narcotics Dog Team and three-time Top Patrol Dog Team, and were recognized as Officers of the Quarter in 2019.
But behind the accolades is a dog who gave his entire heart to the job, who worked tirelessly, asked for nothing, and gave everything.

Now, it’s our turn to give back.

We are proud to stand behind K9 Hero as he enters retirement, ensuring he receives the care and comfort he so deeply deserves. Thank you, Hero, for your service, your courage, and your sacrifice. You will always be a hero to us.

K9 Veterans Day is a very important day for us at For The Big & The Brave- Retired K9 Medical Foundation.

Our two currently sponsored veterans, K9 Big and K9 Enzo, spent their time in service bravely protecting Baytown’s community. Their dedication, loyalty, and sacrifice are something we can never truly repay.

K9 Big’s retirement inspired the creation of our foundation. Our mission is to cover medical expenses for Baytown Police Department K9s after they retire from service, ensuring they receive the care they deserve after years of protecting others.

Our way of saying thank you is by helping make sure these heroes have the happiest and healthiest retirement possible.
