HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF PEDESTRIAN, TRAIL, AND BIKING IMPROVEMENTS ACROSS THE BAYFIELD PENINSULA

Everyone is invited! Residents, property owners, trail users, bicyclists, businesses, and visitors are invited to participate in a joint public meeting on June 25th for the Bayfield County Bike & Pedestrian Plan and the Bayfield Peninsula Trails Plan.
The event will begin at 5:00 pm with an informal open house, followed by an interactive input session at 5:30 p.m.

What will be discussed?

-Input on walking, biking, and trails
-Identify safety concerns
-Recreation opportunities
-Connecting Communities
-Priority projects

UPDATE 5/19/2026: The trail is clear and open.
The Gil Larsen Trail is currently closed between the second and third creek crossing and at the School Trail access until further notice. The recent heavy winds blew down several large trees in the lower Big Ravine. The City of Bayfield and Bayfield Area Trails volunteers are rallying to clear the pathway as soon as possible.

TRAIL ALERT: The entire length of the Big Ravine East Rim Trail is now open to snowmobiles as an ungroomed trail with a posted speed limit of 15 mph.
