Members of the Post helped the Veterans Service Office in Bridgeport for County Government Day on Wednesday April 8. Quartermaster Mike Cerny had the opportunity to tell the students about the VFW and what they do. Post member Shawn Weibert explained his role he has within the VSO office helping Tim Marquez - Morrill County’s Veteran Service Officer. Among the student attending from Bayard and Bridgeport Public Schools, four of the students had shown interest in serving in the military. One student has already enlisted while three others were talking to recruiters.

We wish all the graduating students from Bayard and Bridgeport the very best with their future endeavors! Congratulations Class of 2026!!

The Post asked Sheriff Candidate Ricky Trevino to draw the winner for the raffle. Congratulations to Phil Found, the winner of the Henry Goldenboy rifle! Congratulations to Danny Winerice, the winner of the Yeti cooler! We would like to thank everyone who supported the post in this raffle! The money generated from the raffle is used for operating expenses and supporting local veterans, youth programs and other community support!

On Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM the food bank in Bayard will be open at the Cornerstone Church.

VFW will not be hosting a Thanksgiving Dinner this year.

The Bayard VFW post 9915 is doing a raffle! We are fundraising in order to continue community projects, youth scholarships, purchase uniforms, and help veterans in need. See the poster below and let me know if you were interested in a ticket or a few tickets. We are only selling 60 tickets to increase your chances to win. The drawing will be at the home for the holidays event in downtown Bayard the first week of December. If you need a Venmo, PayPal, or other way to pay, we can help you out. Please consider supporting the Bayard VFW! There will be two drawings, first place receives the Henry rifle and second place receives the yeti cooler. If those prizes do not tickle your fancy, you may exchange your prize for a gift card with the same value.
