Zainul Abideen Outreach (ZAO) is a group of individuals who help create and fund community based projects directed towards addressing the needs of low income and poverty stricken families and individuals in the San Francisco Bay Area. We address the needs of a large portion of society by actively participating in service projects that directly resolve problems and issues on the ground level. These
projects include but are not limited to community feeds, clothing drives, hygiene kit distribution, visiting the sick and elderly in hospice care and other projects in various Bay Area locations. The purpose of ZAO is to not only initiate and perform the above activities but to also provide opportunities for community members to actively participate in building a better society founded on the principles of love, compassion and justice. Anyone and everyone is invited to volunteer and/or donate to any of our projects. Zainul Abideen is the nickname of Imam Ali ibn Husain ibn Ali ibn Abu Talib (b. 657 AD), the great grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. Zainul Abideen means "Ornament of the Worshippers" and Imam Zainul Abideen was famous for his worship of God; he was also well known for his knowledge and charity. Imam Zainul Abideen used to regularly deliver food, supplies and money to the homes of all the poor in the city of Medinah. In addition, he would often visit the sick, dying, widows, orphans and servants and provide for their needs. A fountain of spirituality he authored the famous al Sahifa al Sajjadiya, an Islamic book of prayers; and always the pillar of justice he wrote Risalatul Huquq "The Treatise on Rights" detailing the various rights of God, Family, Friends and people. Zainul Abideen Outreach dedicates all of our projects to this luminous man and his legacy.
