June is Black Music Month, a time to honor the rhythm, creativity, and legacy that shaped generations. From gospel and blues to jazz, R&B, and hipβhop β Black artists have given the world music that moves hearts and changes history.
π€ A Little History
Black Music Month was first proclaimed in 1979 by President Jimmy Carter to celebrate the influence of Black musicians on American culture. In 2009, it was officially renamed African American Music Appreciation Month β continuing the mission to uplift the voices that built the soundtrack of freedom, faith, and joy.
