It is with such deep and profound sadness that we share the news that former Sheriff William E. Hilton was the victim in today’s hit and run in Hineston. The facts of the incident are still under investigation.

We are also devastated in reporting Sheriff Hilton has passed away from those traumatic injuries he sustained in this horrible and senseless event.

Sheriff Hiltons leadership, dedication, and service to our community have left a lasting impact, and we know this loss will be felt by many parish, state and even country wide.

Please keep his family, friends and the RPSO Family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this difficult time together.

We will share additional information as it becomes available.
———————————
Just before 1PM, Sheriff’s Dispatch received a report of a hit and run in the Hineston area where the suspect intentionally fled the scene.

Upon deputies arrival, the victim was found with severe physical injuries and was later transported by Pafford Ambulance to a local hospital. Status of the victim is unknown at this time.

Deputies quickly obtained a suspect vehicle description which was a blue Nissan Moreno and put it out to all local law enforcement

Deputies along with troopers from LSP spotted the vehicle on LA 28 at Leavines Road traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed.

Deputies and Troopers attempted to make a traffic stop but the suspect accelerated and ran from law enforcement which initiated a pursuit.

The suspect continued eastbound hitting speeds of well over 100 mph. A decision was made to spike the suspects tires which was effective and the suspect came to a stop at LA 28 and Cloverleaf Blvd where the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

As this is still on ongoing and complex investigation, no further information will be given until a later time.

Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office Mourns the Loss of Deputy Tim Jordan

The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office is deeply saddened to report the tragic death of one of our own.

At approximately 8:00 a.m. this morning, Deputy Tim Jordan, a four-year veteran of the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office, was struck by a train while working a traffic assignment. Preliminary information indicates Deputy Jordan may have misjudged the proximity of his vehicle in relation to the train track.

Deputy Jordan was immediately transported to Ochsner LSU Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington stated, “This is an extremely difficult day for the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Jordan’s family, and his fellow deputies. Deputy Jordan was a dedicated public servant who took pride in protecting the citizens of Bossier Parish, and his loss is deeply felt throughout our agency and community.”

The Louisiana State Police are leading the investigation into this incident.

The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office asks that the public keep Deputy Jordan’s family, friends, and coworkers in their prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Here’s one example of how many Louisiana sheriffs are giving a little extra back to their communities during the holiday season!

Sheriff K.P. Gibson says, “The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to serving the citizens of our parish, and that commitment remains the foundation of everything we do. The men and women of our office work tirelessly each day to enforce the law, assist individuals facing difficult circumstances and ensure Acadia Parish remains a safe and welcoming community where families can live, work, and raise their children.”

“While public safety is our primary mission, I am continually impressed by the compassion and generosity demonstrated by our personnel through their involvement in community outreach and charitable initiatives. Our deputies consistently go beyond their required duties to support projects benefiting the elderly, our youth, and families in need throughout the parish.”

During the months of November and December, the Acadia Sheriff’s Office became especially active in giving back to the community. Deputies delivered Thanksgiving baskets to families, helping ensure they could enjoy the holiday season. They participated in the Shop with a Cop program, providing less fortunate children with gifts and positive experiences, and visited local nursing homes, delivering treats and spending time with senior citizens. They also participated in Toys for Tots, helping to bring joy to children during the Christmas season.

Sheriff Gibson said, “The time, effort and personal resources deputies contributed reflects their deep commitment to public service. They exemplify what it means to be true public servants. I am honored to work alongside these dedicated men and women who consistently make a meaningful difference, both on and off duty, for the citizens of Acadia Parish.”
