Bath Peace and Justice Group

Bath Peace and Justice Group We are a group of concerned citizens in the Bath, New York area seeking social, political and environmental peace and justice Our primary focus is education.

The group formed in 1984 in response to proposed nuclear waste dumps in the Finger Lakes region. Our monthly meetings usually begin with a potluck dinner, and feature a speaker or video followed by discussion. Speakers and videos examine past and present political events and cultural trends. Meetings are generally held on the first Wednesday of the month, from 7:00-9:00 pm, in Bath, NY.

Steuben County has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the Steuben County Bath Landfill Proposed Eastern Expansion. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted until next Monday, February 8. 2021. The Draft EIS is available online at: https://www.steubencony.org/pages.asp?PID=13937 Our greatest concern is that alternatives to expansion were not sufficiently considered. Overall the Proposed Eastern Expansion is expected to include 70.9 acres of landfill directly east and south of the existing landfill and 23.4 acres of overlay on the existing landfill. Contact: Steve Orcutt, Steuben County, 3 East Pulteney Square, Bath, NY 14810, Phone: (607) 664-2460, E-mail: [email protected].
