Today the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, joined by parishes and faithful across the country. The act of consecration takes place as part of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Join the livestream this afternoon at 4pm ET / 3pm CT / 2pm MT / 1pm PT. Watch along, pray with us, and entrust our nation to the love of Christ's Sacred Heart.

This week, as we consecrate the Church in the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we entrust our people, our families, and our communities to the Lord’s abundant mercy and healing love. As our Pope so elegantly wrote, “The living God descends into our history in order to free us from all forms of slavery. He takes upon himself our weakness and transforms it into a setting for salvation” (232). In communion with Your Holiness, we pray that the Heart of Christ may renew the faith of our people, strengthen our charity, and make the Church ever more fully a sign of hope and unity in the world.

Let’s Go: Early bedtime for me as I begin a new journey tomorrow morning—though 4:00am wakeup calls are fairly routine for me 🤣. I saw this last weekend at this guest house we were at for the amazing wedding of our daughter at Graceful Gatherings at LedgeRock near Varysburg, NY and it was appropriate.
Tomorrow my triumph begins—mark it down, etch it in stone! I’ve got the most loving family around—all of them. Charla is the rock of our family, we are blessed to have you beyond words.
I’m fortunate to have the most talented medical team at URMC to guide me through this process. All of you are gentle and kind in the way I see you interact with all your patients—from hospital rooms to MRI scans to anesthesia consultations—on and on, you are all true heroes!
Thank you to my friends for the incredible support, the love has pushed us through this. And lastly, thank you for the many thousands of you who have offered encouragement, prayers, love and perspective on your own journeys. These are not going to be fun days, but I’m determined—and I’m not afraid. Jesus has a plan for me—I’m just getting revved up. Haircut nice and early (my countless former TV colleagues will get a kick out of this one in particular) and then it’s time to get to work! I’ve scheduled a week’s worth of scaled back posts, Charla will post an update on my page here once I can offer my patented “thumbs up”. As I say often here on my page—be healthy, live life, be kind! ❤️
