Our First Initiative is one we are very passionate about. The creation of Basin Heritage Commons. Located where the old Eagles Lodge in Basin was on the corner of 4th and C street. We have partnered with South Big Horn County Conservation District and the Town of Basin Beautification Committee to create a beautiful space where people and businesses can come together to celebrate the people who make and have made Basin a wonderful community. To commemorate our businesses that have been long standing, community supportive, and a staple of our way of life. It will also be a space that shares the wonderful heritage and history of our native flowers and plants as well as their importance to the Native Americans and Settlers of this area. We will also be having our history of this area, that so many are not aware of, as a place to share our local history for all to see. We are actively working on getting photographs and history to turn into outdoor plaques to have throughout the flower beds of the Commons.
If you want to leave a lasting legacy of your business, family, organization or your favorite memory of Basin. You are able to do so with purchase of engraved bricks and pavers that will be covering the walkways of this stunning place. This also helps to contribute towards the costs of creating this space. We are grateful to Security State Bank for their generous contribution as a founding member of the Basin Heritage Commons as well as 13 other individuals who have already purchased their bricks and pavers.
We can already envision the incredible emotions people will feel as they walk through the commons, reading the memories, the history, and learning about our way of life here that has shaped who we are. Basin Heritage Commons also creates a space that allows for celebrations and events in our community, through out the year for all of us to come together, to increase traffic to our downtown area, and support our local businesses. Our local businesses are the backbone that supports our communities through donations, efforts and collaboration. Basin Heritage Commons is a way for us to continue to create connections while also supporting those businesses with this space.
If you wish to learn more about purchasing a brick, paver or becoming a founding member of the Basin Heritage Commons, we have 12 Spaces left for Founding Members that will be recognized on our large outdoor plaque for all to see for generations to come. We hope you will continue to be a part of our legacy. You can visit basinheritageinitiative.org or speak to Danae Bales, President, directly at 307-275-0419.
