Heartworks - RI

Heartworks - RI We currently have over 120 members and usually have two or three opportunities a month for our members to participate in.

Heartworks is a non-profit Acts of Kindness group created in response to the tremendous kindness that sustained so many families in the months and years following September 11, 2001. Heartworks is an organization of women in Barrington, RI who meet on a monthly basis to share and create opportunities in our community to give and receive support. The meetings are like a book club meeting beginning

with a social hour and followed by a discussion about the many opportunities there are to reach out in our community. The very first Heartworks group was founded by Megan McDowell in Bernardsville, NJ after she witnessed the small acts of kindness that had sustained her family during the tragic September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center took the life of her brother-in-law, John Farrell. Her group began as a simple gathering in her living room

Now, Heartworks has grown into an organization encompassing five chapters in four states in the nation. We feel so strongly about Heartworks that we feel EVERY community should have a Heartworks group in order to help and nurture each others during challenging times.
