Niko was diagnosed with a nongerminomatous germ cell tumor (brain tumor) on 6/6/2024. Niko has had an incredibly difficult journey – he underwent 3 neurosurgeries for tumor resection and completed 6 cycles of chemotherapy in Vermont, followed by a stem cell transplant in Boston and radiation therapy in New York City. 2026 FFFF Beneficiary: Lei - 17 years old

Lei was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia on Feb 28, 2025 at UVM Medical Center after being transported by ambulance from CVMC ER the night before. Within 12 hours of arriving at UVMMC, he had a central line placed, a bone marrow biopsy completed, and chemo started. Between Feb - Sept 2025, he spent 174 days total in the hospital, five rounds of chemo, emergency surgery, two stays in the PICU, and multiple treatment-related infections.
