Are you looking for meaningful work? Barre Area Senior Center is hiring a part-time (25 hours weekly) Program Director responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing engaging programs and activities that meet the diverse needs and interests of our participants. This role ensures a welcoming, inclusive environment while managing volunteers, program leaders, and administrative processes. The Program Director works both independently and collaboratively with the Director of Operations and committees to expand participation and enhance the overall member experience.

This position operates in a dynamic senior center environment that prioritizes community engagement, inclusivity, and lifelong learning. The role requires occasional evening or special event hours. starting at $28 per hour.

We are seeking members with a background in finance, fundraising, or nonprofit management to help guide the strategic direction of the organization. BASC provides access to programs and resources that help older adults live independently and remain active.

Music offers such a great way to share multi-generational experiences together. 🙌 Yesterday, we were treated to another dance and drumming session with Marquaye Samuel from Shidaa Projects Inc.! This session was full of movement and many ways to engage with the music through dance and rhythm. 🪘🪇

Yesterday was the first of four workshops with the Drum & Dance Director for the Shidaa Projects Inc., and WOW! 🪘 The music, talent and passion is simply astonishing. 🪇 We are so lucky to offer the opportunity to enjoy this at the center.

Enjoy the trails throughout the Barre Town Forest with our Slow 'n Easy Hiking group every Thursday in May (weather dependent). The group meets at the Barre Area Senior Center at 10:45am to coordinate the plan for the group and organize carpooling to the trailhead. Each hike is approximately 90 minutes and offers a nice way to enjoy the trails and the company of the group.

Join Samuel, the Drum & Dance Director for Shidaa Projects, and long time performer and instructor, originally from Ghana. These workshops will include drumming, dance, and recorded music as participants enjoy a dance demonstration and the opportunity to drum and dance as well. The activities can be done seated or standing. Drumming and dance benefits people of all ages, and after a long Vermont winter Samuel will bring energy from the sun through drum and dance.
