Supporting Our Community Through Community Harvest

BASC is proud to be part of the network of organizations receiving support from Community Harvest of Central Vermont. Their work of getting locally grown food to people throughout our community is invaluable.

Food donations and partnerships like these are a great example of what can happen when local organizations work together.

Our October newsletter and calendar are now available, and there is plenty happening at the Barre Area Senior Center next month.

October will bring a mix of meals, activities, presentations, social opportunities, and special programs, including our Slow ’n’ Easy Forest Hike on October 7 and more throughout the month.

Pick up a printed copy at the Center, check out the newsletter and calendar online, and start planning what you’d like to join us for.

Thank You to Our Outreach Volunteers!

You may have seen BASC out and about in the community lately. Most recently, our outreach volunteers attended the Washington Fall Festival on September 26, sharing information about the Center and the programs and resources available to older adults in our area.

A big thank-you to the volunteers who give their time to represent BASC at community events. Outreach like this helps us connect with people who may not yet know everything happening at the Senior Center.

A creative afternoon at BASC!

Our Fall Into Autumn Paint & Sip is happening today. We love having opportunities at BASC for people to relax, create, and try something new.

Coming up next: AARP Smart Driver Course - Tuesday, September 29 at 9:00 AM. Advanced sign up is required.

The course is designed to help older drivers refresh their driving skills, learn about changes in vehicles and roads, and think about ways to continue driving safely and confidently.

Meal on a Monday is back for October!

Join us at the Barre Area Senior Center on Monday, October 5th as we celebrate National Pasta Month with a Pasta & Meatballs Meal.

On the menu: Pasta & meatballs, garlic bread, house salad, and lemon cream cake.

Barre Area Senior Center's Soup Festival is TOMORROW (9/22/26).

We’re welcoming autumn with Soup Fest at 11:30 AM tomorrow at the Barre Area Senior Center.

Remember, advanced sign up is required for the meal so call today!
$10.00 for members, $12.00 for non-members.

And stick around afterward: at 12:15 PM, we’ll have a free Senior Living & Care Information Session covering some of the basics of senior living options, care, and planning.

Staying active can mean a lot more than exercise. It can be creating something new, learning a new skill, playing cards with friends, attending a presentation, joining a discussion, or simply getting out of the house and connecting with others.

That’s what we hope BASC can provide: opportunities to keep your body moving, your mind engaged, and your connections strong.

Join us on Tuesday, September 22 at 11:30 AM for a relaxed sit-down lunch featuring a variety of soups and a chance to enjoy a meal together as we welcome the start of fall.

$10 BASC Members | $12 Non-Members
Advance signup is required for the meal.

Immediately following lunch at 12:15 PM, we will also host a free presentation on the fundamentals of senior living and care. You do not need to attend Soup Fest to attend the presentation.
