FOP Lodge 43 had an incredible week supporting local families and spreading some Christmas cheer 🎄

On Tuesday, we were honored to receive a generous $5,000 donation from Stacey Phelps and the Bardstown Nelson County Tourist Commission, Tourist Informations Center. This support helps make a meaningful impact in our community, and we are truly grateful.

On Wednesday, we proudly hosted our annual Shop With a Hero event (formerly Shop With a Cop). This year, 12 families and 23 children were able to enjoy a special day of shopping for Christmas alongside local heroes.

We were thankful to have volunteers from Nelson County Fire & Rescue , Nelson County EMS , and the Nelson County Sheriff's Office, KY who gave their time and hearts to make this event unforgettable.

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and came together to help bring smiles to these kids this holiday season. This is what community is all about ❤️

🇺🇸 Nelson County — THANK YOU! 🇺🇸

Your generosity and community spirit truly shined during our Cram-a-Cruiser event hosted by FOP Lodge 43. Because of you, we were able to raise well over $3,000 worth of canned and non-perishable food items!

All donations will be delivered to local blessing boxes and food banks right here in our community. During a time when many families are struggling, your kindness will make a real difference this holiday season.

We are incredibly grateful for everyone who showed up, donated, shared the event, or helped spread the word. Your willingness to support your neighbors is inspiring, and it’s what makes Nelson County such a special place.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Old Kentucky Home FOP Lodge 43 Hosts “Cram a Cruiser” Food Drive to Support Local Families in Need

Bardstown, KY – 10/30/2025 – The Old Kentucky Home Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 43 invites the community to join them in making a difference this holiday season through their annual “Cram a Cruiser” Food Drive.

The event will take place on Saturday, November 16th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Walmart located at 3795 E John Rowan Blvd. Bardstown, Ky. 40004,(Grocery Side Entrance). The goal is to fill a police cruiser with donated non-perishable food items to support local families and individuals in need.

With SNAP and WIC benefits impacted by the ongoing government shutdown, many families are facing additional hardship. The “Cram a Cruiser” food drive aims to help bridge the gap and ensure no one in our community goes hungry.

Community members are encouraged to donate the following items:

Canned vegetables and fruits

Pasta, rice, and dry grains

Peanut butter and canned protein

Boxed meals and cereals

Bottled water and juice packs

All food donations should be sealed and within their expiration date.

“This event is a great opportunity for our community to come together and support our neighbors who may be struggling,” said a spokesperson for FOP Lodge 43. “With so many families feeling the effects of the government shutdown, every donation—no matter how small—makes a real difference.”

Donations can be dropped off directly at the Walmart Grocery side entrance during event hours.
