The Wisconsin Society DAR State Regent joined in reading the Declaration of Independence at the State Capitol on July 8. Congratulations to the Three Lakes Historical Society and Museum upon receiving a DAR Historic Preservation Grant for the Johnson House.

Today, members of the Nokomis Chapter visited the Johnson House in Three Lakes, WI. The Three Lakes Historical Society and Museum received a Daughters of the American Revolution Historic Preservation Grant to replace some of the windows on the house. Congratulations to Dr. Karl McCarty! Oakfield, Wisconsin's high school history teacher earned the NSDAR's award for the 2026 Outstanding Teacher of American History. Dr. McCarty won the WSDAR Good Citizen award in 2001 and graduated from University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, in 2007. He was the WSDAR's 2026 Outstanding Teacher of American History and moved to the national contest. The members of the Wisconsin Society Daughters of the American Revolution are proud to support and recognize Dr. McCarty's accomplishments.

Representatives of the Continental Congress voted to secede from Great Britian on July 2, 1776. The Declaration of Independence was ratified on July 4, 1776. 200 copies were printed and distributed. On August 2, 1776, the parchment copy was signed by all 56 signers. May we continue to pursue the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Happy 250th Birthday, America!
