After an incredible investment of over $1 million, the final 90 feet of footings are soon to be poured.

This marks the last section of wall necessary in repairing the damage from winter storms and ensuring this beloved coastal walk remains a treasure for generations to come.

Next up? Resurfacing the path to complete the project as we look ahead to the spring.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported this effort—from donors and volunteers to the teams working tirelessly to bring this vision to life. The finish line is coming closer!

Shorepath Update - progress is slow but continues!

MacQuinn’s and Norwood’s are fighting the tides and temperatures to keep this project moving.

The footers have been poured in front of the Hancock Street access and along Reef Point and they are getting ready to pour the wall in that section.

A HUGE thank you goes out to the Cumber and Willard Families for allowing a temporary road across their properties at Reef Point. This middle section of the path had major damage and is the most difficult to access. This has allowed excavators and concrete trucks easy access to the most difficult spots on the path.

The VIA and the community thank you!

With the Shore Path along the Bar Harbor Inn completed and open to the public, restoration efforts have moved to the Path's opposite end with structural work now complete and fill work to happen next. Crews will continue as long as the weather holds out, with plans to finish this second long stretch before the winter comes. The final and most difficult section, Grant Park to Hancock Street, is planned for the early spring of 2025. This stretch is challenging to access and the scope of work is significant, but the hope is for the Shore Path to open in full sometime in the Spring 2025.

Your Chance to Double Your Impact

Your support is still needed!!

As we round out fundraising for completion of the Shore Path and its future viability, every dollar you donate today will be matched—up to $30,000, thanks to the generosity of Ruth M. Colket.

That means your gift will have double the impact, bringing us even closer to fully restoring this iconic path. Costs for this project have exceeded projections and your support will allow for finalizing this extraordinary undertaking and provide funds for future maintenance.

How You Can Help

Whether you’re a resident, frequent visitor, or simply someone who cherishes Bar Harbor’s natural beauty, this is your chance to make a meaningful contribution. Your donation will help ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy this historic path.
