Moor Caring Hands Inc. is introducing our new GED Preparation Module, designed to help participants work toward earning their GED and moving forward with their education, careers, and personal goals.

The process begins with an intake and an initial assessment to help identify each participant’s starting point, strengths, and areas that need attention.

Participants can choose the approach that works for them:

📱 Work at your own pace: Access lessons and assignments on a phone, tablet, or computer and study around work, family, and other responsibilities.

🤝 Join a structured cohort: Work through the module with a group that meets once a week for tutoring, providing help with challenging material, encouragement, and accountability between sessions.

Our objective is clear: help participants prepare to successfully earn their GED and take their next steps toward the future they want. That may mean college, trade training, better employment, or a personal goal they have been ready to pursue.

Moor Caring Hands is proud to celebrate the successful placement of our second young adult into part-time employment!

Every job placement represents more than a paycheck—it is an opportunity to build confidence, develop positive work habits, gain valuable experience, and move toward greater independence.

We are grateful to everyone who continues to support our mission and invest in the success of our young people. This is another meaningful step forward, and we look forward to helping many more youth prepare for and secure employment.

FROM FELLOWSHIP TO SERVICE — THIS IS COMMUNITY

Yesterday we broke bread together.

Today, we took that same spirit into the streets and shared that bread with our community.

Following yesterday's First Friday Open-House Fellowship and Holy Day gathering at Grand Temple 13, food generously contributed by members of Grand Temple 13 of the Uniting of the Moorish Science Temple of America was carried forward through Feed Moor, Clothe Moor and Moor Caring Hands, Inc.

The food was brought back, portioned into complete meals, packaged, loaded up and taken directly into the community.

Today, 12 dinner plates were distributed.

And these pictures tell the rest of the story.

Our Executive Director, Sister Robin Moore-El, didn't simply coordinate the effort from behind a desk. She was out there personally carrying meals and placing them directly into people's hands.

That personal connection matters.

People know Robin. People respond to her. And what we witnessed today reminds us that community service isn't only about what you give—it is also about how you treat people when you give it.

A meal may meet an immediate need, but dignity, conversation, familiarity and genuine concern remind people that they have not been forgotten.

This is the kind of work Moor Caring Hands was created to do.

And none of today's work stands by itself.

It began with people gathering for Holy Day.
It continued through fellowship and generosity.
Food was donated.
Meals were prepared.
And today those meals reached people in our community.

That's the complete circle.

Temple. Fellowship. Giving. Service. Community.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Grand Temple 13, everyone who contributed food to yesterday's fellowship, Feed Moor, Clothe Moor, and especially our Executive Director, Sister Robin Moore-El, for continuing to demonstrate what hands-on community service looks like.

12 meals may not feed an entire city.

But 12 people were reached today who would not have been reached if somebody had decided that a small effort wasn't worth making.

We build from there.

Yesterday we broke bread together.
Today we shared that bread with our community.

Feed Moor. Clothe Moor. Moor Caring Hands.

Serving people. Preserving dignity. Building community.

Peace.

He’s taking care of his community.

Brooklyn gardener Kofi Thomas helped transform a 13,000-square-foot lot into the Good Life Garden.

What was once filled with trash is now a community green space that has distributed more than 10,000 pounds of food and created a place for healing, growth, and connection.

Seems familiar for some reason even beyond my childhood where I first put my hands in dirt, but this brings a peace that I can't explain right now. But fall planting is about to begin. The babies will be watering this evening and probably two more bags of Leaf grow and Jamiah's Seeds of service will be planting all kinds of greens for our fall meals. We want to build another but we have to find donations for compost and topsoil. No worries moving forward working with what we got.
