Fair Housing Friday!!!

Did you know that discriminating against someone because of their source of income is ILLEGAL in Maryland?

The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination against renters based on their income source, including:

Rental assistance (Section 8, housing vouchers, etc.)
Social Security benefits
Child support
Veterans' benefits
Other government assistance programs

Landlords and property managers cannot:

Refuse to rent to someone because they use a housing voucher
Charge higher deposits or fees for voucher holders
Require co-signers or additional income verification for voucher holders
Deny housing to someone based on their income source

If you're a renter facing source of income discrimination, or if you're a landlord/property manager unsure about your obligations, KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!

Let's work together to create a more inclusive and equitable housing market for everyone!
