Across Washington, DC this April and May, civic moments are happening everywhere. From Climate Week panels and international cultural festivals to major games and community gatherings, there is no shortage of opportunities to be in the room and engaged with what is shaping the city.

We just released “April and May in the DMV,” a curated preview of what matters right now. But the full, consistently updated calendar is only available to TOGETHER! members, including smaller, high-signal events and opportunities most people miss.

TOGETHER! members receive access to the full, consistently updated calendar, which includes smaller, high-signal gatherings, partner events, and curated opportunities that are often missed but incredibly valuable.

If your goal is to be more intentional about where you spend your time, who you meet, and how you engage with your community, this is exactly what the membership is designed for.

You can read the preview and join the TOGETHER! membership to unlock full access.

The average U.S. Senator is 65 and the average House member is 57. These are the people deciding how AI shapes your career, your data, and your rights.

Right now they’re determining whether AI companies can be held liable when their tools cause harm.

Whether your data has any real protection. Which jobs can be automated without consequence. How AI can be used in elections.

Over 1,000 AI-related bills were introduced in just the first four months of 2025. The decisions are being made fast. The people making them are betting Gen Z won’t show up.

The rules are being written right now and silence is a vote too.

81% of Gen Z are concerned about how their data is used. Only 14% trust social platforms to handle it responsibly. And yet, we keep scrolling. Because the apps are designed that way.

Here’s what they don’t put in the terms of service: every scroll, every pause, every search tells an algorithm something about you. That data gets packaged, sold to advertisers, and used to keep you online longer, not happier.

Gen Z is projected to hit $12 trillion in spending power within five years. That’s why every platform is fighting for your attention. Your attention is worth billions. You’re seeing none of it.

This isn’t a willpower problem. It’s a power problem.
Big tech has lobbyists. You have each other.

1 in 3 Gen Z feel constant pressure to be perfect. Nearly 3 in 5 lacked a sense of purpose last month.
Not because they don’t care but because the bar they’ve been handed is impossible.

Graduate with honors. Land your dream job. Make an impact. Do it all before 30. Nobody told you it was okay to change your mind first.

Here’s the reality check nobody gives you: purpose isn’t a destination you arrive at by 25. It’s something you build slowly, messily, and on your own terms.

Purpose can be showing up for your community, taking care of your mental health and figuring out what you actually believe. The world doesn’t need you to be finished. It needs you to be present.

America went to war last weekend. No declaration. No vote. No consent.

The Constitution gives Congress the power to declare war. A bipartisan coalition tried to enforce that last week and lost 212 to 219.

Meanwhile: $11.3 billion already spent, seven service members dead, and no plan for the day after.

We already know how this ends. We just keep paying to find out again.

In 2019, you needed to earn $67,000/year to afford a median-priced home in the U.S.

And today? $114,000. That’s a 70% jump in 6 years.

Add $1,650/month in average rent. $530/month in student loan payments. Groceries up. Transit up. Everything up. And 55% of Gen Z don’t have enough saved to cover 3 months of expenses.

This isn’t a budgeting problem. This isn’t an avocado toast problem. It’s a policy problem and the people making those decisions aren’t 23.

Gen Z is the most educated, connected generation alive. We’re also the most financially squeezed.

66% of Gen Z have or plan to start a side hustle. But 40% of them started because inflation left them no choice, not because they wanted to.

Let’s be real about both sides.

Side hustle: Gen Z side hustlers earn an average of $1,505/month on top of their main income. You set the hours. You build skills on your terms. For a lot of us, it’s not optional, it’s survival.

Steady job: Benefits. Health insurance. A predictable paycheck. And 67% of side hustlers report burnout from juggling both, stability isn’t selling out.

And the dream… doing both: a job that pays the bills AND a side project that feeds your soul.

The problem is the system makes that really hard.
This isn’t a personal finance problem. It’s a policy problem and you deserve an economy that actually works for you.

Previous generations hit peak burnout at 42. Gen Z is hitting it at 25…and it’s not because we’re weak. It’s because the math doesn’t work.

76% of Gen Z say cost is the biggest roadblock to getting ahead. Burnout is keeping 2 in 5 from learning new skills or seeking a promotion. 53% have changed sleep patterns. 49% can’t concentrate. 45% are skipping social events.

This isn’t a self-care problem. This isn’t a productivity hack problem. It’s a system that was never built for us and a generation carrying the weight of that every single day.

You’re not burnt out because you’re failing but because the system wasn’t built for you.

Entry-level job postings are down 29% since 2024. Early-career workers in AI-exposed fields are losing jobs, while older workers in the same roles are gaining them.

This isn’t paranoia but it’s data. But here’s the plot twist: 75% of Gen Z are already using AI to upskill, more than any other generation. You’re not falling behind at all: you’re adapting faster than anyone!

The real problem isn’t your skills. It’s that the people writing AI policy, deciding which jobs get automated, and controlling these tools are not 23.

Gen Z uses AI the most and has the least say in how it’s governed. That’s a power gap and power gaps close when young people show up.
