✨ Independence for Who? ✨

Hey y’all 👋🏾

About 3–4 weeks ago, I had the opportunity to attend a Womens Caucus For Art event, and I honestly had a great time! I came in during the yarn activity and then got to explore the art exhibit, “Independence for Who?”, connected to the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The exhibit really made me think about women, our bodies, and the things we deal with that are often overlooked. Seeing artwork around menstruation and feminine necessities had me thinking… why are we paying for something our bodies naturally do❓Pads, tampons, panty liners, etc. are necessities, not luxuries. And some women are still expected to work through extreme pain just to be taken seriously. 🤦🏾‍♀️

We also toured the historic prison from the 1800s and learned about women who were imprisoned for things like homelessness and being on the streets. That really made me think about how society has treated women who were already struggling.

But what I loved 💚 was seeing how that same space has been transformed into a place for art, creativity, and community. What was once a place of confinement is now bringing people together. ❤️

I’m grateful for the experience and thankful to Sandra Davis for inviting me! I truly appreciate it and hope we get the opportunity to work together one day.

This experience definitely left me asking:

Independence for who❓And what does true independence really look like for women? 💭

A little over two weeks ago I join a Janine with Sewing Lab and few other designers to host a mending event at the Loop The Loop | Baltimore Thrift & Vintage in Baltimore. A new thrift shop in downtown Baltimore Fells Point they have some great items check them out!

I had a great time & looking forward to do it again💚

Back at it again for the sustainability festivities at Baltimore County Community College Essex we are celebrating Earth Day 🌍.

As a proud alumni, it’s a full-circle moment to return to the same college that poured into me, now I have the opportunity to pour back into the CCBC community through purpose-driven work 💚.

I have the honor to advocate, educate, and engaging with students, staff, and guests on what sustainable fashion really looks like in our everyday lives beyond the trends, into true stewardship.
