Balaton Area Community Foundation Balaton Area Community Foundation (BACF) is an affiliate fund of Southwest Initiative Foundation. De We are supported by Southwest Initiative Foundation.

We're a community foundation dedicated to using earnings from our endowment and charitable gifts from donors to support the Balaton area. Our advisory board is made up of volunteers who help us determine the projects we'll support with the dollars entrusted to us by our generous donors. They are our "parent" and they're responsible for investments and ensuring compliance with IRS rules. In addition, they support us with educational opportunities, seminars, etc.

Youth Bean Bag Tournament – Friday, July 4th!
Join us during the burger feed for our annual Bean Bag Tournament hosted by the Balaton Area Community Foundation!

-Start Time: 6:30 PM
-Meet at the Basketball Court to Register

We’re so thankful for the generous heart behind this project! An anonymous donor provided life jackets for our local swimming beach, wanting to make sure everyone can enjoy the lake safely. Their generosity, along with support from the Balaton Area Community Foundation—who had the sign made—and the City crew who installed it, brought this idea to life.

“Wear it. Share it. Return it.”
That’s the message behind the new Lake Yankton Life Jacket Loaner Station—take one if you need it, then return it for others to use.

We’re grateful for the people who love this community and step up to make a difference. Let’s all help keep the lake a safe and fun place for everyone this summer!
