When we first met Dozer, we couldn't believe no one was looking for him.

A really nice lady found him wandering around her neighborhood. She didn't just walk away. She spent weeks walking him through the neighborhood, putting up flyers, and posting him on every local lost and found page she could find.

Dozer was a big, chunky boy, and he was already fixed, so we knew he must have had a family somewhere.

But no one ever came.

The lady wanted to keep him so badly, but she had an elderly dog who wasn't comfortable with such a big change. She loved Dozer enough to ask for help, and that's when he came to A and K Animal Rescue.

He stayed with us while we searched for the perfect family.

And we found them.

Today, Dozer is living his best life with an amazing family and even has a new doggy sister to play with.

We went to the shelter to drop off 10 foster puppies that had found loving homes.

I thought we were just saying goodbye.

Instead, we met Cowboy.

One of the shelter workers placed a tiny kitten in my arms and explained that he was blind. His eyes were completely crusted over, and nobody knew what his future would look like.

I looked down at him and couldn't stop thinking about what it must feel like to be blind in a shelter.

Imagine never seeing the people around you.

Never knowing who is walking past your cage.

Hearing dogs bark, doors slam, and people talking all around you, but not being able to see any of it.

It broke my heart.

My brother and I knew one thing right away.

Cowboy deserved more than a cage.

So we brought him home.

Now Cowboy is learning how to live in a world he can't see. He bumps into walls. He bumps into furniture. Sometimes he reaches his little paws out in front of him, trying to figure out what is there before he takes another step.

When he finds us, he rubs his face against ours and gently touches us with his paws. It's like he's trying to memorize the people who love him.

Some days are harder than others.

He went to the vet to start treatment for the infection affecting his eyes. Next week he will have a full eye exam, and we're praying there may be something doctors can do to help him.

But even if there isn't...

Cowboy will never be alone again.

He will never have to wonder if someone loves him.

He will never spend another night in a shelter cage.

He's home.

He's safe.

He's family.

Hi, we’re Adoniah and Kosta 🐾

We’re brother and sister, and we’re the kids behind A and K Animal Rescue.

Our rescue focuses on helping farm animals, from dogs, cows, cats, sheep, chickens, mules, even tortoises. We really do have it all! Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals who need a second chance.

We started this rescue because we love animals, and we couldn’t ignore the ones who needed help. Some were sick, some were hurt, and some were just forgotten. But to us, every single one of them matters.

Since we started in late 2024, we’ve helped rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome over 100 animals. We take care of everything they need, including food, medicine, baths, cuddles, and lots of love. We also help run the rescue behind the scenes, including adoptions, tracking finances with help from our mom, our AKAR treasurer, and even designing our merch.

We are all volunteers, and we run on donations. 100% of what you give goes directly to the rescue animals. So when you support us, you are truly helping save lives.
