October is Pastor Appreciation Month! 💙

At CityServe, we’re blessed to have three incredible pastors serving on our team. Each brings unique gifts, leadership, and a heart for ministry, and today we want to take a moment to honor them!

Pastor Kevin | Chief Operating Officer

Kevin brings a unique combination of a pastor’s heart and a business-minded approach to leadership. His humility, wisdom, and servant’s heart are evident in the way he leads. He is intentional, steady, and passionate about equipping the local church and investing in people. We’re grateful for the example he sets and the heart behind everything he does.

Pastor AJ | Youth Programs Director

With 13 years in youth ministry, AJ brings a unique blend of creativity, precision, and leadership to everything he does. He’s meticulous, intentional, and has an incredible ability to bring ideas to life. And if you know AJ, you know he loves his gadgets and finding just the right tool for the job! His passion for the next generation and commitment to excellence make him such a gift to our team.

Pastor David | Finance

David has been a faithful part of CityServe since its beginning, bringing decades of pastoral wisdom, a servant’s heart, and a deep love for Jesus. He’s soft-spoken by nature, but when it comes to sharing the Gospel, there’s nothing quiet about his passion! He faithfully leads our team in prayer, and his love for the Lord is truly contagious. His gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and heart for people are a blessing to everyone around him.

We’re grateful for the way each of these men leads, serves, and lives out their faith, both inside and outside the walls of CityServe.

Addiction does not erase a person’s worth. Every person battling addiction is made in God’s image, deeply loved, and deserving of compassion and support.

Through The Addicted Initiative, CityServe equips the local church to walk alongside those struggling with addiction, offering connection, encouragement, and the hope of Jesus.

CityServe Head quarters also provides direct support through our Enhanced Care Management (ECM) services, connecting individuals to care and resources that support recovery and stability. Our on-site Men’s Sobering Center offers a safe, supportive environment for men in need.

Because compassion is more than words. It’s meeting people where they are and walking alongside them toward hope and healing.

Join us in praying for those battling addiction, their families, and the churches and recovery ministries helping them find freedom.

What a great day for the Church in SoCal! 🙌

Yesterday, 81 pastors, leaders, and church planters gathered in Bakersfield for the city’s first-ever The Lobby event, hosted by Plant SoCal, the church planting arm of the Assemblies of God.

At CityServe, we love seeing local churches come together for encouragement, connection, and conversations that strengthen ministry and leadership. We’re grateful for the leaders investing in one another and in the communities they serve.

Thank you to Plant SoCal, the speakers, and every team who helped make this gathering possible—from The Collective Church and Real Life to Kern County Teen Challenge.

We’re celebrating what God is doing through church planting in Southern California and looking forward to what’s ahead. Here’s to the first of many Lobby gatherings in Bakersfield!

For eight weeks, we’ve been asking one question:

What does the local church need?

Resources.
Relationships.
Capacity.
Opportunity.

Partners.

Because equipping the local church takes people who believe in its calling and are willing to invest in it.

We were grateful to gather with faith and community leaders in Washington, D.C., for a time of encouragement, connection, and practical equipping.

Together with the White House Faith Office, CityServe helped host a gathering centered on the work these leaders are doing in their communities.

The Neighborhood to Nations Grant Center also led a training to help faith-based nonprofits strengthen their organizations and pursue resources to serve more people.

We left encouraged by the leaders in the room and the work ahead. Thank you to everyone who joined us and to our partners who helped make this gathering possible. From the neighborhood to the nations, we’re better when we work together.

For the past several weeks, we’ve been asking:

What does the local church need?

Resources.
Relationships.
Capacity.
Opportunity.
Support.

But none of it happens alone.

It takes churches willing to serve, partners willing to provide, and people willing to give.

“…because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.”
Philippians 1:5

The local church was never meant to carry the weight of ministry alone.

It needs people who will pray, partners who will stand alongside it, and resources that help turn compassion into action.

At CityServe, we believe supporting the local church strengthens its ability to serve families, meet practical needs, and share the hope of Jesus within the community.

When the Church is supported, the Church can support others.

The local church is uniquely positioned to recognize the needs within its community and respond with compassion. Sometimes, it simply needs an opportunity to step in and serve.

CityServe helps create those opportunities—connecting churches with resources and practical ways to care for families, strengthen communities, and share the hope of Jesus.

Twenty-five years later, we remember.

We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage and compassion that rose in the face of unimaginable darkness.

May we continue to be people who carry hope, choose compassion and shine the light of Christ in a world that desperately needs it.

One year without Charlie Kirk, and his absence is still deeply felt.

He spent his life reminding a generation what truly matters: Love God. Cherish your family. Fight for life. Stand for truth. Live with courage. Never be ashamed of the gospel.

A year later, his voice and conviction continue to impact people across our nation. We miss the wisdom, courage, and unwavering faith he carried so boldly.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23

From all of us at CityServe, our continued prayers are with the Kirk family and everyone who knew and loved Charlie.
