A huge THANK YOU to our amazing community and BHS Leadership students & staff for supporting this year’s Peanut Butter Drive for the Baker City Backpack Program! Because of your generosity, kindness, and community spirit, we collected 665 jars of peanut butter to help provide weekend meals for local students and families.

From the individuals who donated a single jar to the businesses and organizations who rallied behind the drive — every contribution made a difference.

We are so grateful to live in a community that continually shows up for our students. 🥜🎒

Every week, our food shoppers go the extra mile—literally—for our students. Traveling across Oregon and Idaho, Karen Kolb-Schoeningh & Judy Baker spend countless hours searching for the best prices, stretching every dollar to make sure we can support the increasing number of children requesting weekend food support.

Because of their dedication, our program can continue serving local students and families while making the most of every donation and resource. From early mornings to full carts and long drives home, their hard work behind the scenes makes a huge difference in the lives of children in our community.

Thank you to our amazing food shoppers for your time, commitment, and heart for this program. We appreciate all you do to help fight food insecurity in our community!🎒

FREE SUMMER MEALS PROGRAM IS RETURNING!

Free, nutritious meals will be available to all children ages 18 and younger most weekdays Monday through Thursday throughout the summer, from June 15 through August 6, 2026.

A sack lunch and breakfast for the next day will be offered from 11:00am to 11:30am via the bus lane at Baker High School on E Street.

We will be using a drive-through model again this year, and walk-ups are also welcome.

No registration is necessary - just show up!

Children should be present to receive meals; however, we understand that may not always be possible. (For example, if a child is not feeling well.)

This year, we will not be offering meal purchases for adults.

Anyone who needs more information may contact Food Services Supervisor Amanda Dolby at the District Office by calling 541-524-2260.

Every week, behind the scenes of our weekend food insecurity program, dedicated volunteers help keep things moving for our students.

A huge thank you to Gail Henry, Matt Baldwin, and Mitch & Amanda Grove, who pick up our empty food bins from schools each week and deliver them back to the church to be refilled for the next round of student food bags. Your time, reliability, and willingness to serve help make this program possible week after week.

We are so grateful for the many hands that help carry this mission forward! 🎒
