So grateful to our local community who helped us collect so many boxes of non-perishable food for our Fight Local Hunger program. Each time we do a collection event at the local Stop & Shop in either West Babylon or West Islip, the shoppers are so generous, and we are able to donate 10, 15, even 20 boxes of food to one or two of the nine food pantries or soup kitchens that we support.
My most touching moment this past weekend was when a woman came to the store, only to buy a cardboard mailing box, but when she came out, that box was full of food that was being donated to our collection efforts.
Respect to the parents who are teaching their kids about caring for others, and making the selection of what to purchase and donate a family decision.
