It had been an entire year since I had stepped foot on our property in Kenya, and as always, I was overwhelmed by the changes, and all that God had done. The trees are growing so quickly, loaded with fruit, the buildings freshly repainted, and the new building sat gleaming in the sunlight. But that was nothing compared to the beauty of the voices, the laughter, the singing as 550 people waiting to greet us and welcome us home.

How do I express to you, the reader, the ones who support this work in Kenya, all that God is doing? It is hard, and how I wish I could take every single person with me to see and share in the goodness of God, and the miracle of what He alone is doing. The widows and orphans, who had no hope only a few years ago, now singing and praising God, the One who reached down to rescue them from the pit of despair and fill them with hope. ONLY GOD.

I am attaching pictures of the property, and a few smiling faces so you can see people, now filled with HOPE, the HOPE of JESUS. I pray that you can see, in their faces, the miracle of God working as they are now filled with His joy and His hope.

I returned home from Kenya just a couple weeks ago, and there are SO many things I can’t wait to share with you all. God is moving, and His blessings are incredible, and so to all of you who give, who pray and partner with Shadow of His Wings, I say thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Just 4 days before we were to board the plane for Kenya, I got the call that I had been dreading to receive, our precious Clarice had passed away. My heart crumpled in sorrow because I was not going to get to see her again, this side of heaven. After a few moments my tears of sorrow, turned to tears of joy as I knew she was dancing on streets of gold, her legs finally working again, and she was gazing into the face of her precious Jesus. And I know that I will see her again one day, and I knew she will be waiting to greet me.

Our trip did seem so sad without visiting her home, but as God always does, He led the team to meet someone He wanted me to meet. On our way to the airport, we stopped by a hospital to visit the patients there and to pray with them. In the last room was an elderly widow named Ulda. She had been there for over 2 weeks with throat cancer. She told us she knew that she would die there in the bed, alone. Dr. Peter, the owner of the facility, had found her and brought her in to treat her as she has no one in her life. No children, no family, and for the entire time she had been there, we were her first visitors.

I heard the clear voice of God telling us that she needed us. And so, for the next 30 minutes or so, I encouraged her, and before our time together was over, she was praising Jesus. It was a powerful time with the entire team cramming into her room, loving on this woman who just moments before had felt all alone in the world.

Since upon returning home, our Kenya team asked if they could adopt her and care for her as they had Clarice, and of course my answer was, “YES!!” I can’t wait to learn more about her and share her life with all of you. My first good news, she returned to her home, she didn’t die in that hospital bed because I know that God is NOT through with her yet!!!

“Give us this day our daily bread.”
Matthew 6:11

I truly love the Lord’s prayer, and there is SO much we can learn from each statement in it. Today, I was focusing on what it means to truly depend on God for our daily needs.

On one of our trips to Kenya, we stopped to visit a young, widowed mother with 3 small children. As we visited with her, we noticed she had a pail that held her grain, and it was empty. We asked her if she needed food for herself and the children, and she instantly began to cry. She shared with us that earlier that day, a very elderly gentleman was walking by her house, and she knew he was starving, so she gave him the very last of her grain. She shared that the Lord told her to give it to him, and even though she knew her children were hungry, the Lord would provide. And through her story, and her tears, she said that through us, the Lord was answering her prayers.

Oh, to have faith like that, knowing that no matter what the Lord asks of us, He WILL provide our every need.
As we prepare to leave in a few days for Kenya, I am excited to see how the Lord will stretch me, and teach me, and grow me in my faith. Please pray for our team as we prepare to leave, and for ALL that the Lord will do as we are there.

God does indeed provide our daily needs. The question comes in, do we depend on Him for those needs like we should.
