Have you ever gone to bed a little damp, and you got chilled and just couldn’t get warm? Or can you imagine not having a blanket to snuggle into on those cold winter nights when you go to bed?

I must admit, I love a good, soft blanket, and I have more than I need if I’m honest. Many times, the children in Kenya share one blanket with all their siblings, and sometimes they don’t have a blanket at all.

Our House of Refuge project is trying to make sure our children don’t have to experience the awful nights of being cold with no relief, and so, this month, every child in our program received their own blanket. There are still so many things these precious children need, but our prayer is that tonight they won’t be cold, knowing God sent a nice warm hug in the form of a blanket, and as they curl up to sleep, they can feel His precious love wrapped tightly around them.

About 4 years ago, my sweet Michelle Daisy in Kenya had a baby girl. She named her Baby Sheridy. She is such a sweet, beautiful little girl, but there is one thing about her … she is absolutely terrified of me. No matter what I do, all she does is scream and cry. It is a true, from deep down in her soul kind of fearful cry, and so, every time I go, I just try to help her to understand I am not going to hurt her.

The last trip in February, she didn’t scream, but she wouldn’t look at me either. I felt like maybe I had made a little progress, but she was a hard one to get close to. All I wanted to do was love on her, and hold her, but she was having none of it.

As we drove up to Miriam and Michelle Daisy’s home just a couple weeks ago, as I was getting out of the car, here comes running a little girl, dressed in her most beautiful dress, not away from me, but TO me. I stopped and baby Sheridy came right up and jumped up into my arms. Squealing with excitement and hugging my neck. It was SO awesome!!! The only time she cried this trip was when I had to leave.

As we drove off, I watched this little family until I couldn’t see them any longer. Miriam, Michelle Daisy, baby Sheridy and now a new little son Bryon. My heart longs for a good life for them, but so many bad decisions made, and now, so many more mouths to feed.
I know that God has given this little family to me to care for, and to love, and to remind them that Jesus loves them, Jesus see’s them, and one day, Jesus will come and take us home to be with Him forever. But, until that day, I will continue to go, continue to love and give all that I can.

To love others, I learn more deeply every day, is the greatest gift we can give to anyone. And when you finally get that long awaited smile, all the years of showing love to them, and then finally getting love back …….. it is worth the wait!!!

I want to apologize for not keeping you all updated here on social media about what is happening in Kenya. I will try and be better about writing each Monday, just so you can feel a piece of the miracle God is doing on the other side of the world, through SO many of you!!!

I just returned home a few days ago, and it was an incredible trip. Every time I leave, a piece of my heart stays there, I love those people so much.

The reality of poverty was brought closer to me this trip, as I was told of a woman with 9 children, who gleaned rice each day for her family. Her husband passed away and so now she is the sole caregiver. Every morning, she wakes her family and together they go to a rice field that has just been harvested, and all day long they pick up grains of rice for their daily meal. Usually, they get approximately ¼ to ½ cup for all 10 of them, for the day.

I am doing to be honest; I couldn’t wrap my mind around that truth, and the reality of starvation for these precious people became SO real to me. I mean, I knew of the starvation before, but not like that. Going out each morning, bent over in the blaring sun all day long with my kids, picking up one grain of rice at a time, knowing what they collect would be their food for the day. Heartbreaking, and unimaginable.

The impact of food is greater than we can ever know, and I am so thankful for our children that are getting 2 hot meals a day, and weekend food for their entire families.

Thank you, my friends, for trusting us with your monetary gifts, going to help feed these children. They are seeing clearly the love of Jesus Christ through your generous gifts, as we sustain them in the physical with daily food, and prepare them for eternity with the life saving grace of Jesus.

Praise the Lord kind of day in Kenya!!!
I did a devotional with our own Academy class 4 students through the Training College college age. I was talking about being an example and to help one another, and then the Lord pressed upon me I was to talk about salvation. There were about 100 orphans and widows packed into that room.
one of our teachers
And Shias best friend
Plus about 80 other children and adults raised their hands to accept Jesus as their Savior.
It was an overwhelming moment!!!

Much rejoicing in heaven and on earth!!!

Some are being baptized on Thursday in the river ❤️❤️❤️

This year marks almost 10 years since Shadow of His Wings first went to Kenya, and in my heart and mind, it seems like only yesterday. I’m excited to share I leave in a few days for Kenya, and I’m SO excited to do everything God has laid on my heart while I’m there.

The purpose of this trip is to prepare for our September 26, 2026, “Decade of Miracles,” event to be held here locally, which I will SOON be telling you all about. God has laid on my heart a huge vision as we continue to work with the widows and orphans of Kenya, which will be revealed AT the September event!!! God is moving and I am so thankful for each of you that have partnered with us.

Part of our work has been to help the neediest orphan children, placing them in loving homes with a parent to love and care for them. This phase of our project is called, “House of Refuge Project.” I just received some pictures of when they received a mattress, or clothes that aren’t torn, or good, nutritious food to feed their tiny bodies, and their smiles bring tears to my eyes. I can’t imagine the poverty and pain these children suffer, but I do know that God calls us to help the widows and orphans in their distress, and I am thankful to be part of what He has commanded us to do.

Part of our current trip is to expand our current HORP project to other church’s there in Kenya that are excited to also be part of ministering to the orphans in their own congregation and surrounding area. Widows and orphans, rising to the call of God by ministering to other widows and orphans. God is moving, and my excitement almost can’t be contained.

I know that Kenya seems so far away for many of you, but please hear me when I say, every donated dollar helps support these precious children who have no one. If you are interested in joining in the mighty, miraculous move of God, please go to our website and sign up today.
