Celine's Cats & Canines Rescue

Celine's Cats & Canines Rescue The puzzle-piece heart represents the many layers of rescue work: the challenges, the healing, the hope, and the love.

Each color symbolizes diversity and unity. Inside the heart, the white silhouettes of a dog and cat remind us who we’re fighting for! Founded in 2015 by Celine Broecker, Celine’s Cats & Canines Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit sanctuary dedicated to saving the lives of animals who’ve been forgotten, abandoned, or overlooked. Our mission is to rescue, spay/neuter, microchip, and provide medical care

to cats and dogs—giving them a second chance at life and love. What started as a dream has grown into a humble but passionate operation run by Celine and her husband Cody. Despite limited resources, inconsistent volunteer support, and the challenges of living with high-functioning autism, Celine remains fiercely committed to doing the best she can with what she has. Our setup may not be fancy, but it’s filled with heart. Outdoor dog runs, rotating play yard time, and two indoor kennel buildings provide shelter, safety, and socialization. Every day begins with early morning chores—feeding, cleaning, rotating, repairing, and vet scheduling—all handled by Celine and Cody themselves. We believe every animal deserves compassion, care, and a chance to thrive. Celine’s Cats & Canines Rescue is a safe haven for those who’ve been given up on—and here, they’re never forgotten.

Good afternoon, community. ❤️

I get asked a lot: “Why do independent rescuers ask for donations?”

The answer is simple: because if we don’t step up, many of these dogs have nowhere else to go.

Animal Control may not be able to pick them up. Shelters may be full and unable to accept them. Many people don’t want to foster. And even the people who are willing to foster are often rescuers themselves, taking in dogs without having the financial means to cover everything.

There are people who have the financial ability to help but choose not to. Then there are people like us who may not have the financial means, but we simply cannot walk away from a dog in need.

So we ask for small donations.

We ask because we want to help. We ask because we don't want to see more unwanted dogs suffering on our streets. We spay and neuter whenever we can. We help families. We network with rescues. We find fosters. We arrange transports. We pay for boarding, food, vaccines, medical care and everything else these dogs need.

And yet, somehow, we are often criticized for asking for help.

Please remember that many independent rescuers have full-time jobs, some even have second jobs, while still dedicating their free time to helping animals. We do this because we care, not because it is easy.

And why can't another rescue just pay for everything?

Because they are exhausted financially too. Many nonprofit rescues are completely full and don't have enough foster homes. Being a 501(c)(3) doesn't mean they have unlimited money or resources.

And to those who say, “You're not paying taxes on the donations you receive” — please understand that we still live in the real world. We work, we pay taxes, we buy supplies, we pay for gas, food, boarding and countless other expenses. Even when donated money is used to purchase dog food, bedding, medications or supplies, those purchases are still subject to taxes.

Nothing about rescue is free.

The truth is, we are all trying to fill a gap in our community.

So before criticizing someone for asking for donations, please take a moment to look at what that person is actually doing. If you know they work, they give their time, they spend their own money, and they are genuinely trying to save lives, please choose kindness.

We cannot do this alone.

Every $5, $10, $20 donation adds up. Every foster matters. Every share matters. Every person who chooses to help instead of criticize makes a difference.

Please continue to support independent rescuers and the work we do. We are trying our best with what we have. ❤️🐾

Thank you to everyone who continues to stand beside us. We truly could not do this without you.
Please consider early giving to help our growing rescue
