Our next FREE Koha Cinema Club screening is...
SPIRITED AWAY (2001) dir. Hayao Miyazaki
WEDNESDAY 6TH MAY!

New month! New theme! We're doing another deep dive in the filmography of an all time great, both in the world of Japanese animation and around the world! Folks, it's time to celebrate the modern Walt Disney, Hayao Miyazaki, with SPIRITED AMAY!

Week One- the film the month is named after, still arguably Miyazaki's most iconic film, a perfect fantasy masterpiece- SPIRITED AWAY! When a young girl's parents are transformed into pigs on the side of the road, she finds herself trapped in a spirit bathhouse, and must trust her instincts if she's ever going to see her parents again.

Come join us WEDNESDAY 6th of May!
At the beautiful Te Puna Creative Hub at 8 Smythe Rd, Henderson.
Entry is FREE
Doors open at 7pm. Doors close at 7.30pm! Film starts shortly afterwards!

As we move into Spirited Amay, let's look back at all the films picked for Audience Choice April. An absolute smorgesborg of good pulls. Thanks everyone for voting!

Week One (31st March):
GINGER SNAPS
Two outcast sisters in mindless suburbia are attacked by a wild creature on the night of one of their first periods. Her wounds miraculously heal but something is not quite right...

Week Two (7th April):
EEPHUS
As an imminent construction project looms over their beloved small-town baseball field, a pair of New England rec-league teams face off for the last time.

Week Three (14th April):
PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE
A singer-songwriter seeks revenge on a nefarious music producer who steals both his music and his favourite singer for the grand opening of the Paradise, his new rock palace.

Week Four (21st April):
HACKERS
A super-genius teenager discovers a plot by a nefarious hacker, and must put a stop to it while also being perused by the Secret Service.

Week Five (28th April):
TRUE STORIES
David Byrne is our narrator, taking us on a tour of the the little town of Virgil, Texas, about to celebrate a major anniversary. Amongst the townsfolk- a couple who haven't spoken for years, a woman whose rich she doesn't need to leave her bed and a big man with a big heart looking for love.

It's April, and we here at Koha Cinema Club are tired of choosing what to watch all the time. That's right, it's AUDIENCE CHOICE APRIL! Simply place a ballot in person or on our instagram story and whatever gets picked out on the day WILL be the film we watch that night.

It could be anything! It could be your favourite film of all time! It could be the worst thing you've ever seen! You won't know unless you VOTE!
