Children often think of grandparents as people who already know how to do everything. After all, you've spent a lifetime learning, solving problems, and building experience.

But one of the most valuable lessons you can share isn't showing what you already know—it's showing that you're still willing to learn.

When grandchildren see you trying something new, they discover that curiosity doesn't have an age limit.

North Carolina was not built in Raleigh alone. It was built by the people who got up every morning, went to work, and spent their careers serving the communities and causes around them.
It was built by teachers who opened classroom doors before the first bell rang, transportation workers who maintained the roads connecting our towns and cities, correctional officers who worked behind prison walls, university employees who helped educate generations of North Carolinians, and state and local employees who handled the countless responsibilities that most people rarely think about until they need them. It was built in schools, courthouses, county offices, town halls, parks, maintenance shops, laboratories, hospitals and thousands of workplaces spread across every corner of this state. Much of that work was quiet, often unnoticed and rarely celebrated, but over decades it became the foundation on which North Carolina stands today.
