We fully believe that a bed is a basic need for the proper physical, emotional, and mental support that a child needs. When it was brought to our attention that the need for beds went far beyond our own neighborhoods, we stepped up and took initiative. he U.S., too many boys and girls go without a bed – or even a pillow – to sleep on. These children end up sleeping on couches, blankets, and even floors. This can affect their happiness and health. That’s where Sleep in Heavenly Peace comes in. The model is simple. SHP raises the funds to purchase materials, finds a build location, provides all tooling, and then rounds up a group of volunteers to build a supply of twin beds. The beds are stored until they are ready for delivery. Each delivered bed includes the bed, mattress, sheets, blanket, and a pillow. All the while, in the background, receiving and vetting online bed requests (did I say simple?). We’re a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need. Our organization has grown steadily over time, and we’re working on opening more chapters in different states to serve more people. NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN!®. Sleep in Heavenly Peace - VA, Wythe County is coming out of the ground as you read this. We will soon be the 7th chapter in Virginia joining over 300 nationwide. Even though the names says Wythe County, ultimately we plan to cover Wythe, Bland, Smythe, Carrol and Grayson Counties as well as the City of Galax. Look for us to fully active late summer or early fall.
